  • Publication number: 20150181195
Abstract: A 3D video system transfers video data from a video source device (40) to a destination device (50). The destination device has a destination depth processor (52) for providing destination depth data. The source device provides depth filtering data including filter location data, the depth filtering data representing a processing condition for processing the destination depth data in a filter area of the video indicated by the filter location data. The destination depth processor (52) is arranged for processing, in dependence on the depth filtering data, the destination depth data in an area of the video indicated by the filter location data. The depth filtering data enables the rendering process to improve the quality of the depth data.

  • Patent number: 9007434
Abstract: Providing entry points for 3D video data is described; an entry point unit (18) generates an entry point table by defining entry points in an incoming 3D video data stream and storing entry point addresses giving the location of the defined entry points; the video data stream comprises a multitude of sub-streams, which multitude encodes one stream of 3D 5 video data and comprises at least one 2D sub-stream that independently encodes a 2D version of the 3D video data and at least one auxiliary sub-stream that dependently encodes part of the 3D video data; the entry points include main entry points in the 2D sub-stream and auxiliary entry points in the auxiliary sub-stream for enabling 3D trickplay of the 3D video data by retrieving and decoding non-adjacent fragments of the 2D sub-stream and retrieving 10 and dependently decoding corresponding fragments of the auxiliary sub-stream.

  • Publication number: 20150085070
Abstract: A hybrid transmission/auto-conversion 3D format and scheme for transmission of 3D data towards various types of 3D displays is described. In the decoder (20) a stereo-to-depth convertor (24) generates a depth map. In the 3D video signal additional depth information called depth helper data (DH-bitstr) is sparsely transmitted both in time (partial depths in time) and/or spatially (partial depth within the frames). A depth switcher (25) selects the partial depths based on an explicit or implicit mechanism for indicating when these are to be used or when the depths must be automatically generated locally. Advantageously disturbing depth errors due to said stereo-to-depth convertor are reduced by the depth helper data.

  • Publication number: 20150062296
Abstract: A 3D video system for transmission of 3D data towards various types of 3D displays is described. A 3D source device (40) provides a three dimensional [3D] video signal (41) to a 3D destination device (50). The 3D destination device receives the 3D video signal, and has a destination depth processor (52) for providing a destination depth map for enabling warping of views for the 3D display. The 3D source device generates depth signaling data, which represents depth processing conditions for adapting, to the 3D display, the destination depth map or the warping of views. The 3D video signal contains the depth signaling data. The destination depth processor adapts, to the 3D display, the destination depth map or the warping of views in dependence on the depth signaling data. The depth signaling data enables the rendering process to get better results out of the depth data for the actual 3D display.

  • Patent number: 8850486
Abstract: When the user views the information available on a program (in a Personal Video Recorder), the keywords that determine whether a program will be recorded are accentuated. This can be done by using the size of the text or by using colors or any other kind of varying accentuation i.e. encircled or blinking text. This makes it easy for the user to identify the keywords used in their personalized profile. Additionally the user can navigate between keywords and change the accentuation of the keywords, to indicate a rating (in multiple levels) of the keyword.
