Abstract: The invention provides a color photographic element that contains a coupler useful for forming a neutral silver-based image. Such couplers are particularly useful to provide an auxiliary silver-based image for optically recording a sound track in color motion picture films.

Abstract: The invention provides a photographic element comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a cyan dye-forming coupler having the formula: wherein R.sub.3 represents a methyl or ethyl group; R.sub.4 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 8 or more carbon atoms; R.sub.5 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group containing 4 or more carbon atoms; X represents a chloro or fluoro group; Y represents a substituent group and n represents an integer from 0 to 4, provided that if n is 2 or more, then two Y groups may be joined together to form a ring; and Z represents hydrogen or a group capable of being split off by oxidized color developer. The dye formed by the coupler upon conventional processing with a p-phenylenediamine developer exhibits improved stability.

Abstract: A photographic element comprising a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a cyan dye forming coupler having Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group;R.sub.2 represents a phenyl group having an electron withdrawing group having a Hammett's Sigma value greater than 0 in a position meta or para to the amido group and has no group having a Hammett's Sigma value greater than 0 in a position ortho to the amido group;n represents 1, 2, or 3;each X is located at a position of the phenyl ring meta or para to the sulfonyl group and is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, acyloxy, acylamino, sulfonyloxy, sulfamoylamino, sulfonamido, ureido, oxycarbonyl, oxycarbonylamino, and carbamoyl groups; andZ represents a hydrogen atom or a group which can be split off by the reaction of the coupler with an oxidized color developing agent.

Abstract: A camera and film for recording overlapping visual images and digital data is disclosed. The camera includes a structure for recording the region of a film with visible light to record a visible image in one or more record layer(s) sensitized to visible light; and a structure for recording in the region of the film with non-visible light to record digital data in one or more record layer(s) sensitized to non-visible light, whereby overlapping visual and digital data images are recorded in the same region.

Abstract: The invention provides a photographic element which comprises a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a cyan dye-forming coupler having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 represents an alkyl or aryl group;R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms;Ar represents an aryl group; andZ represents a hydrogen atom or a group capable of being split off by reaction of the coupler with an oxidized color developing agent.Such elements provide an improved cyan dye hue upon development.
