  • Publication number: 20240000045
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a system for livestock monitoring. Animal monitoring devices, mounted on animals, collect accelerometer data of parts of the animals. The devices classify the accelerometer data into one of multiple animal behaviours, to create behaviour classification data. Gateway devices receive the behaviour classification data from the animal monitoring devices, responsive to the one or more of the multiple animal monitoring devices being within a communication range of the gateway device. The gateway devices also obtain sensor data in relation to the animals that is measured independent from the animal behaviours. A rules engine, located remotely from the animals, determines compliance of the animal behaviours with predetermined rules, wherein the behaviours and sensor data are used as variable values in determining the compliance.

  • Patent number: 11116182
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a system for monitoring pasture intake by a grazing animal species. The system comprises a sensor spatially associated with a body part of the animal to generate movement data indicative of movement of the body part of the animal associated with multiple points in time and a processing server. The processing server comprises a data interface to receive the movement data and a processor that is configured to evaluate the received movement data to determine for each of the multiple points in time an indication of a behaviour of the animal at that point in time. Based on the indication the processor determines a time value indicative of a time the behaviour was shown by the animal, and determines a pasture intake value based on the time value.

  • Publication number: 20190246623
Abstract: A pest deterrent system including at least one processing device that determines a presence of a pest in accordance with sensor data from at least one sensor, determines a deterrent strategy, causes at least one deterrent to be activated in accordance with the deterrent strategy, monitors a response of the pest to the activated deterrent in accordance with sensor data from at least one sensor, and selectively modifies the deterrent strategy in accordance with the response of the pest.

  • Patent number: 9107395
Abstract: A control device and method controls an animal's location. A GPS receiver and a processor determine the position, velocity and heading direction of the animal relative to a target. A stimulus unit selectively applies a stimulus to the animal. If the position of the animal relative to the target is less than a predetermined distance and the animal's velocity relative to the target is within a predetermined range and the heading direction of the animal is within a predetermined orientation relative to the target, then a non-aversive stimulus is applied to the animal, and removal of a non-aversive stimulus is selectively effected when the animal's velocity relative to the target is outside of the predetermined range, or the heading direction of the animal changes by more than a predetermined amount, otherwise the non-aversive stimulus is first removed followed by application of an aversive stimulus to the animal.

  • Publication number: 20150031963
Abstract: A gas measurement device for measuring at least one gas in the stomach of a mammal, the device comprises a housing for being located in the mammal's stomach and providing at least one gas sensor for detecting the gas. The housing is impermeable to liquid within the stomach. The device may also comprise a controller disposed within the housing and which is electrically coupled to the at least one gas sensor. The controller is arranged to periodically process an output from the gas sensor(s) to provide data indicative of the amount of the gas within the stomach. The controller can include a wireless transmitter for transmitting the data to a remotely located receiving device disposed exterior to the mammal.
