Abstract: A strapping device comprising an anvil (720) with teeth (734) in a plane angularly offset (?) from a horizontal axis, i.e. transverse direction of the strap (S) in the strap path, and an ultrasonic sealer (800) comprising a sonotrode (830) with teeth (834) in a plane angularly offset (?) from the horizontal axis and an ultrasonic transducer to transmit the mechanical vibrations to the sonotrode, wherein the ultrasonic sealer extends longitudinally along an ultrasonic-sealer axis that is angularly offset (?) from a vertical axis (i.e. normal to the transverse direction of the strap (S) in the strap path) and is movable along the ultrasonic-sealer axis between a retracted position (depicted) and a sealing position. Also described is a sonotrode (830) comprising teeth (834) that extend substantially parallel to the strap (S), wherein adjacent sonotrode teeth (834) define grooves each having the same cross-section along its length.
