Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system for online collaboration enable multiple users to gather content electronic content items from various sources. The content items are associated with a particular user and with each other. Users can find other users that have similar content or personal information. A collaboration session is hosted between multiple participating users that allows the users to access and modify common content during the same session. Modification includes a user marking or labeling content with a label that includes metadata regarding the content. Information from the session, including modifications, is automatically processed and stored as result data. An example of result data is a flash card created for the purpose of language learning. The result data is accessible by the user later for further use and/or modification.
