  • Publication number: 20050104556
Abstract: An electric toothbrush includes a rechargeable energy store which is arranged in an inner space in the body of the toothbrush. The inner space is sealed by a primary sealing element against splash water and other detrimental influences. At least one contact element for an external power supply unit produces an electrically conductive connection to the energy store. The contact element is located either within the inner space, the primary sealing element being removable for charging purposes, or outside the inner space, in which case it is optionally protected by an additional secondary sealing element. The invention also relates to a process for producing such a toothbrush.

  • Publication number: 20040117934
Abstract: The invention relates to a toothbrush which is produced by AFT and has a head part and at least one carrier element connected thereto, in the case of which the front surface of the head part, said front surface being formed by the top surfaces of the at least one carrier element, has a non-planar three-dimensional configuration and/or is capable of assuming such a configuration during intended use. The invention also relates to a process for producing such a toothbrush.

  • Publication number: 20040060138
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a toothbrush having a body, which comprises a handle region, a head region and a neck region located between the handle region and the head region, and having functional elements which are arranged, at least in part, within the body and comprise an electrically operated functional unit and an electric supply device which has an energy store and is intended for the functional unit, in the case of which the body is produced, by injection molding, from at least one hard component, which serves as a reinforcement, and at least one soft component, and at least some of the functional elements, during the production of the body, are encapsulated, at least in part, directly by the plastic which forms the soft component.

  • Publication number: 20030037391
Abstract: The invention relates to saucer-type handle components (5, 6) that pertain to a hollow handle and are produced in several steps. Said handle is used for a toothbrush. Said components are joined together and are inserted into an injection mould (25). A synthetic material, preferably a thermoplastic elastomer, is injection-moulded around the mould-parting line between the handle components (5, 6) in said injection mould (25). The connection seam (22) thus produced holds the two handle components (5, 6) together in a nondetachable manner and seals the hollow space (13) which is formed by the handle components (5, 6).

  • Patent number: 6092252
Abstract: A motor-driven toothbrush including a brush head disposed at an angle to the brush handle wherein the brush head partakes of rotary or arcuate motion, wherein the handle includes a flexible or articulated section permitting the brush head and an end portion of the handle to deflect with respect to the remainder of the handle as the brush head engages the teeth. The elastic section may be a flexible portion or may be a bellows-like member. The drive for the brush head extends through the elastic section and to the brush head. The flexible section permits the brush head to tilt angularly through an angle either greater or less than 90 degrees with respect to the axis of the brush handle. The brush head is attachable to a separate handle having a drive device.
