  • Patent number: 5514077
Abstract: A push-type hand-held surgical retractor definable in terms of an xyz Cartesian coordinate system, includes a substantially flat retaining element having a primary surface in a yz plane and a secondary surface, substantially normal thereto, in an xy plane. The retractor also includes a curved elongated rigid shaft having first and second ends and having a gradual x-axis curve in both the xy plane and an accentuated y-axis curve in the xy and yz planes, the curved shaft having, at the first end, an arched portion having the y-axis curve, in which the first end integrally depends from an upper side of the secondary surface of the retaining element. The retractor further includes an ellipsoidal loop-like gripping element integrally depending from the second end of the curved elongate shaft.

  • Patent number: 4720879
Abstract: A utility sink with pull-through rollers is provided, having removable and repositionable compression surfaces which improve safety and efficiency in the mop wringing state of cleaning floor surfaces. A basin confines and saves cleaning liquids to soak the mops, and has snap pivot retainers that position pull-though rollers so the user's thrust may be downward or away from his body while he stands in a safe and secure stance.

  • Patent number: 4404704
Abstract: A cleaning kit adapted to clean a large area comprises a preliminary cleaning device, a finishing cleaning device, and a cleaning cart including a base frame, a handle having a retaining member and at least two containers situated on the base frame. The preliminary and finishing cleaning devices include a plurality of preliminary and finishing cleaning appliances respectively, the appliances being adapted to be removably connected to each end of the cleaning device. The base frame of the cleaning cart includes at least two wheels connected at one side of the bottom of the base frame and a plurality of floor engaging projections situated at the other side of the bottom of the base frame. The preliminary and finishing cleaning devices are retained in the retaining member of the handle, while the preliminary and finishing cleaning appliances are separately disposed in the two containers.

  • Patent number: 4122844
Abstract: A surgical retractor of the invention comprises a shaft, an arm connected to one end of the shaft and a blade connected to the arm. The shaft and the arm lie in the same plane. The blade has a portion extending perpendicularly to the aforementioned plane. The axis of a portion of the shaft including the other end thereof is perpendicular to and laterally offset from the aforementioned portion of the blade. The last mentioned end of the shaft is substantially spaced from the plane of the aforementioned blade portion.

  • Patent number: 4116232
Abstract: A surgical retractor according to the invention comprises a straight shaft, a blade and means for pivotally connecting the blade to the shaft with the blade oriented perpendicularly to the shaft and being free to turn about an axis perpendicular to the shaft. The retractor may further comprise means for telescopically adjusting the length of the shaft and releasably fixing the shaft at the adjusted length. A sole may be formed on the free extremity of the blade most remote from the pivotal connection, the sole being symmetrically formed on the blade and defining surfaces in planes perpendicular to the turning axis of the blade, the surfaces extending equally beyond the thickness of the blade in opposite directions.
