  • Patent number: 11400413
Abstract: A process for purifying a feed gas stream containing at least 90% of CO2, at least 20% RH and at least one impurity chosen from chlorinated, sulfur-bearing, nitrated or fluorinated compounds is provided. The process includes a) subjecting the feed gas stream to catalytic oxidation producing a stream containing at least one of HCl, NOx, SOx or hydrofluoric acid; b) maintaining the temperature of the gas stream above the highest value between the dew points of water and the acid(s) contained in the gas; c) removing at least a part of the acid impurities by bringing the gas stream into contact with a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger to condense the acid compounds while regulating the temperature of the gas stream exiting below the dew point of water; and d) separating the acid condensates with a corrosion-resistant separator in such a way as to produce a CO2-enriched gas stream.

  • Patent number: 9067173
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating a gas stream comprising combustion fumes containing CO2 in an initial proportion, water vapor, one or more volatile acid compounds, and one or more additional impurities selected from among oxygen, nitrogen and argon, comprising the steps of: i) compressing the gas stream to a final pressure of 1 bar to 74 bar absolute; ii) cooling the gas stream to a temperature of around ?10° C. to around ?130° C. and eliminating at least one additional impurity; and iii) recovering a CO2-enriched gas stream containing a final proportion of CO2 greater than the initial proportion of CO2 in the stream to be treated. In addition, the method comprises, prior to step i), a step of pre-drying the stream for removing therefrom at least a portion of the water vapor which it contains.

  • Patent number: 6929668
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing a gas mixture containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and optionally nitrogen, from at least a hydrocarbon such as methane, propane, butane or LPG or natural gas, which comprises performing a partial catalytic oxidation of one or several hydrocarbons, at a temperature of 500° C., at a pressure of 3 to 20 bars, in the presence of oxygen or a gas containing oxygen, such as air, to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Recuperating the gas mixture, which can subsequently be purified or separated, by pressure swing adsorption, temperature swing adsorption or by permeation, to produce hydrogen having a purity of at least 80% and a residue gas capable of supplying a cogeneration unit. In another embodiment, the gas mixture can subsequently be purified of its water vapor impurities and carbon dioxide to obtain a thermal treatment atmosphere containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and nitrogen.

  • Patent number: 5985230
Abstract: Provided is a process having an increased production capacity for nitric acid, which moves can be operated safely and efficiently. The process comprises forming a reaction mixtures by mixing air, ammonia, oxygen and an inert cooling fluid, preferably water, and then reacting the ammonia with oxygen in a reaction zone to form nitric oxide. The amount of inert cooling fluid in the reaction mixture is sufficient to control the temperature of the mixture and maintain the ammonia percentage below the lower explosion limit for the mixture. The nitric oxide produced in the reaction zone is then oxidized to nitrogen dioxide and its dimer, with additional oxygen being introduced into the process for oxidizing the nitric oxide. The nitrogen dioxide and its dimer is then reacted with water to form the nitric acid.

  • Patent number: 5356213
Abstract: The injection of a second gas, in a flow of a first gas which flows in a portion of a main channel, is carried out by an ejection head which is coaxial with respect to the axis of the channel portion and causes a deflection, typically by radial vanes, of the second gas in at least two flows which are directed substantially radially towards the outside, with a tangential component. Application for example to the over-oxygenation of air in processes of oxidation in gas phase.
