  • Patent number: 6174599
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a glazing panel comprising a transparent substrate (1), especially one made of glass, provided with at least one functional, conductive and/or low-emissivity, transparent thin film (3). In order to improve the optical and especially the calorimetric appearance of the glazing panel, at least one intermediate film (2) is placed between the substrate (1) and the functional film (3), this at least one intermediate film having a refractive index gradient decreasing through its thickness. The invention also relates to the device intended for manufacturing this type of glazing panel.

  • Patent number: 6103363
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a glass-, ceramic- or vitroceramic-based substrate (1) provided on at least part of at least one of its faces with a coating (3) with a photocatalytic property containing at least partially crystalline titanium oxide. It also relates to the applications of such a substrate and to its method of preparation.

  • Patent number: 6068914
Abstract: The invention relates to a glazing pane having an "A" antireflection coating on at least one of its external faces, which antireflection coating comprises a stack of layers of materials having alternately high and low refractive indices. At least some of the layers of the said stack are pyrolysed layers, especially the final layer.

  • Patent number: 6045896
Abstract: A glazing assembly is provided made of at least one transparent substrate having a stack thereon that includes an alternation of n functional layers and n+1 coatings, wherein the functional layers have reflection properties in the infrared and/or solar radiation and wherein n.gtoreq.1 and where, in order to maintain the quality of the stack when the substrate is subjected to a heat treatment step, at least one of the following must be satisfied:the coating placed on top of at least one of the functional layers includes at least one barrier layer providing a barrier to at least oxygen and water; andat least one absorbent or stabilizing layer made of a material capable of absorbing or stabilizing the constituent material of the functional layer forms a part of either the coating placed on top of the functional layer and under the barrier layer or the coating placed beneath the functional layer; and a method for production of the glazing assembly.

  • Patent number: 5939201
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a process for depositing, especially continuously, on a glass ribbon (10) of a float line, a reflective layer (3) based on a metal whose melting point is less than or equal to the temperature at which the glass ribbon acquires dimensional stability. The deposition is carried out in a controlled atmosphere, this being inert or reducing, when the glass ribbon (10) has already acquired its dimensional stability, by bringing the surface of the said ribbon into contact with the metal (22) in pulverulent form or in molten form, the temperature of the ribbon during contacting being chosen so that the powder melts and coalesces, or so that the molten metal forms a sheet, at the surface of the ribbon, leaving a solid continuous layer when the temperature of the ribbon is at a temperature of less than or equal to the melting point of the metal.

  • Patent number: 5618579
Abstract: A metal nitride or oxynitride layer is pyrolytically deposited onto a transparent substrate by a process consisting of simultaneously bringing into contact at least one metal precursor and at least one amine as a nitrogen precursor into contact with said substrate which is heated for a high temperature.

  • Patent number: 5514454
Abstract: The invention relates to a transparent substrate (1), more particularly of glass, surmounted by a metal nitride layer (3) for filtering solar radiation, characterized in that with a view to protecting said metal nitride layer particularly against high temperature oxidation, said layer (3) is surmounted by a pyrolyzed, metal oxide layer (4), whose metal has an oxide formation standard free enthalpy value .DELTA.G.degree. equal to or below .DELTA.G.degree. of the metal of the nitride layer (3) at a given temperature.
