  • Publication number: 20020014499
Abstract: A dispensing member for a container may comprise a piston configured to slide between a first position and a second position inside the body of the dispensing member in response to pressure of a product exerted on the piston. A variable volume chamber may be at least partially defined by the piston and configured to communicate with a container. The first position of the piston may maximize a volume of the variable volume chamber, and the second position of the piston may minimize the volume of the variable volume chamber. A difference between the maximum volume and the minimum volume may comprise a first volume. The dispensing member may also include an outlet for passing product from the variable volume chamber as the piston moves from the first position to the second position. The dispensing member may be configured to dispense a first amount of product up to the first volume and, depending on a manner in which pressure of a product is exerted on the piston, a second amount of product.

  • Patent number: 6343716
Abstract: A metering end-fitting (1) has a metering chamber (30) inside which a piston (24) is slidably mounted, the piston being mounted so as to be able to pass from a first position in which the metering chamber (30) has a maximum volume to a second position in which the metering chamber (30) has a minimum volume. The metering chamber has at least one inlet passage (16, 17) which is open when the piston (24) is in the first position and substantially closed when the piston (24) is in the second position, the piston (24) being coupled to a closure element (50) which, in the first position of the piston (24) substantially closes off at least one outlet passage (15) in the metering chamber (30) and frees the outlet passage (15) when the inlet passage (16, 17) is closed. The closure element (50) moves with a shorter travel than the travel of the piston (24).

  • Patent number: 6302305
Abstract: The invention relates to a pump (10) comprising a base part (13) and a telescopic assembly (30) defining a pumping chamber (60). The telescopic assembly comprises at least one outer sleeve (31) and an inner sleeve sliding inside it. The telescopic assembly (30) is arranged in such a way that, on the one hand, when the outer sleeve (31) is moved to reduce the volume of the pumping chamber, the assembly adopts a dispensing configuration and shut-off means (32) shut off the filling orifice (21) and, on the other hand, when the outer sleeve is moved to increase the volume of the pumping chamber, the telescopic assembly adopts its filling configuration and the shut-off means (32) cease to shut off the filling orifice (21).

  • Publication number: 20010021335
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a product. The dispenser comprises a container for containing a product. The container comprising a body having at least one deformable wall and an opening. The dispenser also comprises a dispensing adapter on the container. The dispensing adapter has a flow passage to be placed in flow communication with the opening of the container, and an outlet orifice forming a seat. A closure is configured to be received in a sealed position on the seat. A mount connects the closure to the dispensing adapter. At least a portion of the mount is elastically deformable and is configured such that force applied to the closure moves the closure away from the seat so as to allow the product to flow through the outlet orifice, and the closure elastically returns to the sealed position on the seat when the force is removed.

  • Publication number: 20010017305
Abstract: A pump for use with a device for containing and dispensing a product may include a single-piece vessel of unitary construction defining a variable-volume chamber. The vessel may include a first wall and a second wall. The pump may include an inlet slit on the first wall, the inlet slit being configured to open one way in response to a decreased pressure in the chamber. The pump may also include an outlet slit on the second wall, the outlet slit being configured to open one way in response to an increased pressure in the chamber. The vessel may be configured to deform from a first position occupying a first volume to a second position occupying a second volume in response to a pressure applied to the vessel. The pump may be used in combination with a container to form a device for containing and dispensing a product.

  • Patent number: 6279785
Abstract: A pump for mounting on a receptacle comprises two portions which are movable with respect to each other defining between them a variable volume pump chamber; the first part comprises a wall defining a fluid inlet passage, via which the fluid contained in the receptacle can gain entry into the pump chamber; the second part comprises a wall defining a fluid outlet passage via which the fluid contained in the pump chamber can leave. The pump comprises a membrane having a first portion disposed on the outer side of the wall defining the inlet passage, such that pressure in the pump chamber applies said portion to said wall to obstruct the inlet passage when the volume of the pump chamber is reduced, and a second portion disposed on the inner side of the wall defining the outlet passage, such that an underpressure in the pump chamber applies said portion to said wall to obstruct said outlet passage when the volume of the pump chamber increases.

  • Patent number: 6209761
Abstract: The pump is designed to be mounted on a receptacle, and comprises a pushbutton that is movable between a high position and a low position relative to a pump body, and that co-operates therewith to define a pump chamber of variable volume. The pump body has a vent suitable for communicating via a passage with the outside of the receptacle when the pushbutton is in an intermediate position between its high position and its low position, thereby enabling air to enter the receptacle while the substance is being sucked into the pump chamber. The pushbutton has an inner skirt integrally formed therewith and suitable for sliding in sealed manner inside the pump body, the inner skirt being shaped so as to isolate said vent from the outside when the pushbutton is in its high position and when it is in its low position.
