  • Publication number: 20210190167
Abstract: An elastomeric bearing includes an inner member that has a spherical exterior surface and is symmetric about a central axis and a hollow annular outer structure that is axially split thereby forming a first outer segment and a second outer segment. The first outer segment and second outer segment form a substantially cylindrical exterior surface. One or more shim structures are formed around the inner member and are disposed at least partially inside the hollow annular outer structure. The shim structure has a radially outward facing surface and a radially inward facing surface. One or more layers of elastomeric material are disposed on each of the radially outward facing surface and the radially inward facing surface.

  • Patent number: 10393179
Abstract: An outer ring for a bearing includes an outer sleeve that defines a first exterior surface and a first interior area. The first interior area is defined by a first inner surface. The first inner surface has a first fastener mechanism formed therein. The outer ring includes an inner sleeve that defines a second exterior surface and a second interior area. The second interior area is defined by a second inner surface. The second exterior surface has a second fastener mechanism formed therein. The inner sleeve is removably disposed in the first interior area by selective engagement of the first fastener mechanism with the second fastener mechanism. The outer sleeve surrounds the inner sleeve and extends axially from a first end to a second end thereof. The inner sleeve extends from the first end to the second end of the outer sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9856910
Abstract: A bearing for a hinge in a hinged raked aircraft wing tip includes an outer member that has a concave inner surface and an inner member that has first and second inner segments. Each of the first and second inner segments has a base that has a bearing section extending therefrom. The bearing sections together form a convex outer surface that is complementary in shape to the concave inner surface. A preload feature is positioned between and engages a portion of the bearing sections. A lubricous liner is positioned between the concave inner surface and the convex outer surface. The bearing sections are positioned in the outer member to compress the preload feature to limit axial movement between the outer and inner members to a predetermined magnitude. The preload feature flexes outward as a result of wear to the liner to maintain the axial movement to the predetermined magnitude.

  • Patent number: 9371861
Abstract: A swaged bearing assembly includes a flange mounted thereon. A bearing inner member has an outer surface at least a portion of which defines an outer engagement surface. A bearing outer member is swaged around the inner member and the inner member is misalignable and rotatable in relation to the outer member. The outer member has an outer surface and an inner surface at least a portion of which defines an inner engagement surface. An area of engagement is defined by an interface of the inner engagement surface of the outer member and the outer engagement surface of the inner member. A flange is mounted on the outer surface of the outer member.

  • Publication number: 20070223849
Abstract: In a spherical plain bearing, an outer ring has a length and an outer periphery defining a first shoulder located at one end along the length and a second shoulder located at a second end along the length. The second end is generally opposite the first end with the first and second shoulders being sized to pressingly engage a housing wall. The housing wall defines a bore into which the spherical plain bearing is positioned. The outer periphery of the outer ring further defines a first staking lip extending radially outwardly from the outer periphery at a first distal end thereof and a second staking lip extending radially outwardly from the outer periphery at a second distal end thereof generally opposite the first distal end.
