    Abstract: A composite material is disclosed that comprises a support membrane coated with an additive that reduces the thrombogenic character of the support. The support membrane is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and at least one ionic or ionizable monomer. The additive is a copolymer of acrylonitrile in which at least one of the comonomers is polyoxyethylene. The composite material of the invention is useful in the treatment of blood, and in particular, dialysis and plasmapheresis.
