  • Publication number: 20080254807
Abstract: The access network for a cellular wireless communication system includes home gateways (5) placed in customer premises and providing wireless links to mobile stations, and a private operator network (20). The private operator network includes base station control units (22), security gateways (21) and a home gateway management server (26). The security gateway has a secure interface for establishing secure tunnels for communication with home gateways through a broadband public network (6). Each home gateway communicates via the security gateway with the home gateway management server of the private operator network to obtain an address of one of the base station control units allocated to the home gateway. The base transceiver station included in a home gateway interfaces with the allocated base station control unit via the private operator network and a secure tunnel with the security gateway.

  • Patent number: 7379430
Abstract: A cellular radio telecommunications system and method of operating the same is described which includes a first cellular radio telecommunications network for providing frequency division duplex radio transmissions over an air interface to one or more fixed or mobile terminals and a second cellular unidirectional radio telecommunications network which at least partly overlaps the first cellular radio telecommunications network for providing unidirectional simplex radio transmissions over an air interface to the one or more fixed or mobile terminals. At least one of access to the unidirectional second cellular network and handover of a communication supported by the unidirectional second cellular network is managed by the first cellular network. • Publication number: 20070069868
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for supplying power to a device comprising photosensitive means arranged for changing a received luminous energy into electric power, the device being associated with power storage means for storing electric power obtained by the photosensitive means. The method comprises the following steps: detecting a remaining load in the power storage means; and when said remaining load is below a first threshold, commanding a light source to be switched on.

  • Patent number: 6785535
Abstract: The invention concerns a cellular radiocommunication system comprising a network core (21) including switches (28, 30, 32), one or several gateways (28, 32) to external networks, subscriber management means (33) and billing management means (34, 35). Several radio access networks (22, 40), including each base stations (24, 42) capable of radio communication with mobile stations (23), are connected to the network core switches. Said radio access networks include an access network (22) managed with the network core by a cellular operator and at least an additional access network (40) having a substantially less extensive radio coverage and a substantially wider bandwidth than the one managed by the cellular operator. • Publication number: 20040132440
Abstract: A radio beacon is installed for broadcasting a radio signal in a protected zone. This radio signal carries system information shaped according to a broadcasting channel of a cellular radiocommunication system. This system information comprises a service restriction indication in respect of terminals situated in the protected zone. When it is detected, such an indication is stored by a terminal and transmitted to the cellular system in a call setup procedure prior to any production of audible signals.

  • Patent number: 6615035
Abstract: The equipment has a wire interface for connection to a wire-Line telecommunication network and an air interface to communicate with mobile stations in accordance with a cellular network operating mode. Each mobile station operates in conjunction with a plug-in subscriber identity module containing parameters used to set up and/or manage the calls. The equipment also has a data reader/recorder suitable for receiving a subscriber module, reading certain parameters from it and writing to it other parameters dependent on the equipment. Telephone calls using a mobile station in conjunction with a subscriber identity module previously inserted in the reader/recorder may then be set up via the wire-line network.

  • Patent number: 6370356
Abstract: The present invention provides a mobile radio telephone system (10, 15) and a method of operating it in which the beacon frequency is at least temporarily transmitted in a discontinuous manner. This allows a base transceiver station (2, 4, 6, 16, 20, 22) to make use of the gained time for either transmitting on another frequency or monitoring neighboring radio frequency sources for potential interference. In a particular embodiment of the present invention, the beacon frequency is interrupted by connecting the transmission path to the receiver path within the base transceiver station (2, 4, 6, 16, 20, 22). This may be done by single pole double throw high frequency switches. The interruption may be temporary or may applied permanently. Further, in a system in which all transmissions by the base transceiver stations (2, 4, 6, 16, 20, 22) are synchronized, mobile stations (12) are described which are adapted to measure signal strength depending upon the duty cycle of the beacon frequency.

  • Patent number: 4573206
Abstract: A cellular radio system in which the mobile radio stations in the zone of any base radio station assign themselves to the control channels allocated to that base station so as to evenly spread the volume of traffic over such control channels. The base station transmits on each control channel a channel group code signifying the range of group code numbers allocated to that particular control channel. Each mobile station stores its identifying group code number, scans the group code numbers of all control channels, and assigns itself to the control channel having a channel group code which includes its group code number. The spread of traffic over the various control channels can be changed by the base radio station simply by changing the channel group codes of the various control channels, without addressing specific commands to the mobile radio station.

  • Patent number: 4551852
Abstract: A system and process is described for spreading the volume of traffic over different control channels of a cellular radio transmission system. A base station having at least two control channels subdivides the number of mobile radio stations in a cellular area of the base station into groups, of a variable number of groups. The base stations transmit the number of groups and a group code on each control channel. The mobile stations receiving the transmitted information detect the number of groups and group code of each channel. The mobile radio stations will combine the number of groups and the received group code with the stored group number. The result of this combination determines the channel over which the mobile station control is to be assigned.

  • Patent number: 4510601
Abstract: A digital frequency receiver connected to a processor for the recognition of multifrequency code signals received in signalling time slots and transmitted to the receiver in digital form by at least one time multiplex link. The receiver includes means (MO) for modulating the received signals with signals whose frequency corresponds to a code being used and which are supplied by a digital generator, means (FPB) for low-pass filtering the modulated signals and means (CL) for analyzing the energy contained in the spectrum of the signals received in the neighborhood of the frequencies of the code. The invention is particularly adapted for use in time-switched telephone exchanges.

  • Patent number: 4385385
Abstract: A monitoring circuit for monitoring a digital signal generator which generates signals that are linear combinations of sinewave signals each of whose frequencies are defined by a coefficient K that is proportional to the corresponding frequency. The generator including means for storing the coefficients corresponding to all the signals to be emitted, the coefficients having an integer portion and a fraction portion whose number of digits defines the smallest possible coefficient value which corresponds to a signal of minimum frequency fm such that all signals emitted by the generator are at frequencies which are multiples of the frequency fm. The monitoring circuit includes a redundancy calculator circuit (EX, RR) connected to the output S of the generator (G), and comparator means (CC) comparing the redundancy calculated by the redundancy calculator circuit with a stored constant theoretical value.
