  • Publication number: 20110020067
Abstract: A method of installing an underwater riser includes anchoring an installation to the seabed; coupling a tubular pipe to the installation; equipping the installation with a submersible float; submerging the float and the pipe, while the float and the pipe are being held from a surface vessel; a cable and a return device are installed on the seabed installation so that the cable can be connected to the pipe; attaching a submerged hauling buoy to the hauling cable; then removing ballast from the float in order to compensate for the tensile forces corresponding to the weight of the float and the pipe and to some of the load applied to the cable; and finally, anchoring of the hauling buoy to the installation, and gradually releasing the float.

  • Publication number: 20100018717
Abstract: The invention relates to a riser pipe installation that comprises a flexible duct of the non-bound type, the duct being vertically arranged between a mechanical connection with a submerged buoy at the stub on the one hand, and a mechanical connection with the seabed at the bottom on the other hand, wherein fluid connections are provided at the stub and at the bottom for connecting the riser pipe with surface equipment on the one hand and bottom equipment on the other hand; the bottom of the pipe is located at a depth of at least 1000 m where it is submitted to a computable maximum reverse bottom effect F, while the buoy is oversized in order to generate at the bottom of the riser pipe a reaction tension T higher than at least 50% or even 100% of the computable maximum reverse bottom effect F applied at the bottom of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 7553107
Abstract: An underwater storage installation for a cryogenic liquid. A foundation base rests directly on the sea floor. An underwater cell for storing the cryogenics liquid and cryogenic liquid-supply and -discharge conduits. The storage cell comprises a sealed outer chamber and a vapor barrier disposed inside the outer chamber and which defines a watertight space. A separation space is disposed between the outer chamber and the vapor barrier. Spacers are disposed in the space to keep the chamber and the vapor barrier at a distance from one another. The installation can be used for the storage of liquefied natural gas.

  • Patent number: 7530766
Abstract: A device for laying pipes from a laying vessel. The pipes convey a fluid within. The device comprises a lower retaining device to retain a pipe and a lower securing device to support the lower retaining device. An upper retaining device retains the pipe and is able to move translationally with respect to the lower retaining device. Both retaining devices retain the pipe from the inside. An upper securing device to which the lower retaining device can be coupled through a pipe section to be connected in order to release the lower securing device and in order to secure thereto the said upper retaining device after the then lower pipe section has been connected and submerged.

  • Publication number: 20090025171
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for mounting a single-piece windscreen wiper arm (10) on a head (12) driving the arm (10) in a reciprocating sweeping movement, wherein the arm (10) comprises a first mounting end (10a) which is connected to the driving head (12) so as to transmit the sweeping forces driving the arm (10) and wherein the first end (10a) of the arm (10) is mounted mobile relative to the driving head (12) between a lowered wiping position wherein the blade is pressed against the glass pane and a raised position wherein the blade is spaced apart from the glass pane. The invention is characterized in that it comprises means for locking the first end (10a) of the arm (10) in lowered position, which are adapted to change state when a lifting force is exerted on the arm (10), to enable the first end (10a) of the arm (10) to be moved towards the raised position.
