  • Publication number: 20110212816
Abstract: A folding device including a folding member, and at least one first belt adapted to act in a forwarding plane on a product to be folded in order to position it opposite the folding member, the device including a movement device for moving the or each first belt relative to the forwarding plane between a first position, in which the first belt exerts a first pressure on the product to be folded, and a second position, in which the first belt exerts a second pressure on the product to be folded that is lower than the first pressure. The movement device is adapted to make the belt alternate between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 6688224
Abstract: A rotary-blade folding unit includes at least one folding blade, a pair of folding rollers and a drive for producing a hypocycloid movement of the folding blade about a rotational axis of the folding blade and a main rotational axis for folding a signature that has been guided up to the rotary-blade folding unit in a transport plane extending between the main rotational axis and the folding rollers, and further includes a drive mechanism for producing an oscillatory movement of the folding blade at least approximately parallel to the main rotational axis; a folder including the folding unit; and a printing machine in combination with the folder.

  • Patent number: 6676588
Abstract: The present invention relates to a copy-carrying cylinder which has a peripheral surface (2) supporting sheet-like copies and which is provided with retaining elements for fixing the sheet-like copies in place on the peripheral surface (2). A folding device (5) which can be moved into and out of openings (4) at the peripheral surface (2) are bounded by at least one movable surface element (13). The surface element (13, 13.3) which is associated with the folding device (5) is designed in such a manner that it takes its closed position (22) automatically.

  • Patent number: 6547232
Abstract: A folder includes a cam having a cam follower path and a movable segment, the movable segment having a first actuating part and a second part, the first actuating part and the second part being selectively movable into the cam follower path. At holds an edge of a signature, the holding device being actuated by the at least one cam follower. Also disclosed is a method for switching a folder from a straight mode to a collect mode, the folder being actuated by a cam. The method includes moving a movable segment of the cam so that a raised section of the movable segment is in a cam follower path of the cam, so as to permit a straight mode of the folder, and moving the movable segment of the cam so that a non-raised section of the movable segment is in the cam follower path of the cam, so as to permit a collect mode of the folder.

Abstract: A folder includes a cam having a cam follower path and a movable segment, the movable segment having a first actuating part and a second part, the first actuating part and the second part being selectively movable into the cam follower path. At least one cam follower follows the cam follower path and at least holding device holds an edge of a signature, the holding device being actuated by the at least one cam follower.
