  • Patent number: 5741254
Abstract: An implant for an ostheosynthesis device, in particular for the spine, comprises an anchoring portion (11) for anchoring to bone and a body in which a channel (13) is formed suitable for receiving a rod (T), the channel opening out sideways in the body, a hollow element (20) suitable for surrounding the body (12) and possessing two notches suitable for receiving the rod on either side of the body (12), and a screw (30) for fixing the hollow element on the body. According to the invention: the hollow element is a cover (20) fitting over the body with a rounded top portion (21b) in which an opening (25) is formed, the body (12) includes a tapped hole (14) facing said opening, and the head (31) of a screw (30) bears against the top (21b, 25a) of the cover, its threaded portion (32) being screwed in the tapped hole through said opening.

  • Patent number: 5702394
Abstract: An assembly piece for assembling together two rods (T.sub.1, T.sub.2) of an osteosynthesis device, in particular for osteosynthesis of the spine. According to the invention, the assembly piece comprises: a body (1) of generally rounded shape having a slot (2) separating the body into two portions (1a, 1b), and two bores (5, 6) on transverse axes (A, B) passing obliquely through the slot, each adapted to receive a respective rod to be assembled; and a clamping screw (3) interconnecting said portions so that tightening the screw locks the two rods in place by clamping them between said portions (1a, 1b).

  • Patent number: 5261907
Abstract: The invention concerns an interconnecting device able to lock two spinal osteosynthesis fasteners comprising an osseous fixation section formed by a screw, a bent-back plate or similar device and a body for fixing an integralization rod formed by a diapason head receiving both said rod and a locking screw, said interconnecting device being constituted by two annular elements able to be each externally attached onto one of the diapason heads, each annular element comprising an external locking rod able to slide into the clamping collar, the two clamping collars of the device being screwed down by a common screw traversing said collars.

  • Patent number: 5176680
Abstract: The present invention concerns a device for fixing osteosynthesis rods to pedicular screws (1), the device being of the type including a diapason-shaped head (4) defining two branches (4a, 4b) collectively receiving a rod (6) to be fixed, the head being locked in its housing (5) by a locking screw (7), wherein it further includes, threaded on the rod (6) and inserted between the locking screw (7) and the bottom of the housing (5), a split ring (9) whose opposing external faces (10) directed towards the locking screw (7) and said bottom are convex and received in complementary concave surfaces (11, 12) provided on the extremity of the locking screw (7) and the bottom of the receiving housing (5) of the rod (6), the ring (9), prior to locking of the screw (7), allowing for a certain angular clearance of the rod (6) with respect to the axis of the screw (1).

  • Patent number: 5129388
Abstract: A device for supporting a spinal column includes a screw having a U-shaped head, a joining element received within the head, a threaded bolt received within and threadedly engaging the head, and a cap covering an upper portion of the head. The head is internally threaded. The threaded bolt engages the joining element to block relative movement between the joining element and the screw. The cap avoids spreading of the head upon tightening of the bolt in the head.
