  • Publication number: 20090175215
Abstract: A packet radio network provides a facility for communicating internet packets to and/or from a mobile user equipment. The packet radio network comprises a gateway support node, a serving support node and a radio network controller. The gateway support node is operable to provide a packet data protocol context for controlling the communication of the internet packets to and/or from the packet radio network from and/or to the mobile user equipment via a packet communications bearer. The serving support node is connected to the gateway support node and is operable to control communications of the internet packets to and from the gateway support node to and/or from mobile user equipment to form the packet communications bearer. The radio network controller is operable to provide a radio access bearer for communicating the internet packets via a radio access interface to and/or from the mobile user equipment.

  • Patent number: 6976011
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for making a secure remote payment for goods and/or a service purchased by the buyer (2) from a supplier (7) using a mobile radiotelephone (1) used by the buyer. The mobile radiotelephone provides access to a radio communications network (5) managed through a management center (6). A payment server (4) is connected to the radio communications network (5). The process according to this invention comprises a step in which the said management center (6) and/or the said payment server (4) and/or a control center identifies the said buyer (2), identification of the buyer consisting of ensuring that the buyer is a bonafide subscriber registered on a list of subscribers to the said radio communications network (5). The process may also include a step to authenticate the said buyer (2).

  • Patent number: 5603811
Abstract: A process for treating an aqueous solution mainly containing nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. The process involves distilling to provide an aqueous solution concentrated in nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid for the separation thereof, then separating by distillation.

  • Patent number: 5544167
Abstract: A base station constructs CDMA channels, each defined by a respective spreading sequence which modulates information bits to be transmitted for forming a respective channel signal. The different channel signals are combined, and then modulated on a carrier frequency, so as to produce a phase shift keyed radio signal which is transmitted towards mobile stations. Each spreading sequence has only one real component. For producing the radio signal, a relative phase shift is applied between different channel signals.

  • Patent number: 5544155
Abstract: A synchronization method includes selecting, at a mobile station, at least one periodic pseudorandom sequence (PN) which corresponds to, and is synchronized with, the reference sequence transmitted by a base station on a pilot channel, and received by the mobile station over a propagation path, this operation being carried out regardless of the frequency deviation between the transmitter and the receiver. Various possible sequences are tested by calculating the quantities E[s(t).multidot.s*(t-.tau.)] and E[s(t).multidot.s*(t)], where E[.multidot.] designates the mean value calculated over a predetermined integration time, .tau. designates a predetermined delay, and s(t)=r(t).multidot.c(t) designates the product of the received base band signal r(t) and the value (c(t)) of the tested sequence, and by calculating the ratio .vertline.E[s(t).multidot.s*(t-.tau.)][.vertline./Es(t).multidot.s*(t)]. The sequence under test is selected if the ratio exceeds a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 5448600
Abstract: Each path is identified by a delay which is applied to at least one spreading sequence for determining a correlation between the received signal ans said spreading sequence. For each selected delay, a reception energy, contained in the CDMA signal consisting of a correlation between the received signal and a reference spreading sequence, is estimated. Delays to be tested are randomly chosen with a choice probability having a maximum for a delay substantially equal to the smallest selected delay. The delays thus chosen are tested by estimating the reception energy associated thereto. When the reception energy for a tested delay is greater than at least one of the reception energies associated to the previously selected delays, the tested delay is substituted for the previously selected delay having the smallest reception energy.
