  • Patent number: 6391015
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, an ionophoresis current (I) assisting administration is temporarily adjusted to a predetermined value (Im) corresponding to a point on a rectilinear portion (0A) adjoining the origin of the current/voltage characteristics of the skin of the patient, the voltage (Vskin) then present between the two electrodes applying the ionophoresis current to the skin of the patient is measured and the measured cutaneous resistance (Rcut) is obtained from the measured voltage (Vskin) and the predetermined value (Im) of the ionophoresis current.

  • Patent number: 6247485
Abstract: A miniature valve for filling the reservoir of an apparatus for the transdermal administration of a medicine including a) a substrate, b) a fuel charge arranged on the substrate opposite the passage to be opened through it, and c) an electric resistor placed in contact with the fuel charge so that the supply of this resistor with a predetermined electric energy ensures the combustion of the charge and the opening of the passage by local rupture of the substrate under the pressure of the fuel gases of the charge. The device is useful for filling a medicine reservoir for the transdermal administration medicine aided by inophoresis.

  • Patent number: 6171289
Abstract: This disposable device for securing an ostomy bag to a stoma created in a patient, of the type comprising means for joining the ostomy bag to an adhesive seal (5) which is applied on the patient via a contact face, a through-passage (8) communicating with the stoma being formed in the adhesive seal (5), of which the contact face on the patient is at least partially covered by an adhesive composition, is characterized in that the adhesive seal (5) additionally comprises means (15, 16, 17, 18, 19) for detecting wetness of the adhesive composition and means for triggering an alarm when a predetermined level of wetness is reached in the adhesive composition.

  • Patent number: 5983132
Abstract: The device comprises a reservoir (3) containing an active principle in ionized form, first (1) and second (2) electrodes in contact with a face of the reservoir (3) and the skin (6) of the patient, respectively, the other face of the reservoir being applied to the skin (6) of the patient and means (5) for circulating selectively an electric current between said electrodes in order to help the passage of a flow of active principle under the patient's skin. The device further comprises a) a control grid (11) arranged on the face of the reservoir (3) which is intended to be applied to the skin (6) of the patient and b) control means (10), (9), (13) for cutting off the assistance current during a predetermined period of time and to circulate a reverse current between the grid (11) and the first electrode (1) which is intended to cancel substantially the passive flow of ions of the active principle which would otherwise pass under the patient's skin.

  • Patent number: 5899875
Abstract: A device for the percutaneous administration of a medicament for treating male impotence comprises two reservoirs (1,2) hydratable with a medicament solution and intended to be applied to the skin of the penis. The reservoirs are mounted on substantially cylindrical bracelet-shaped means (8) with an elastically expansible diameter to support and press the reservoirs (1,2) against said skin during the treatment. The device includes a sensor which is fixed on the bracelet and is sensitive to the expansion of the bracelet in order to deliver a signal to the user.

  • Patent number: 5889396
Abstract: A solution of active principle, in ionized form, impregnates a layer (2) forming part of the reservoir (1). A measurement of the quantity of active principle contained in this layer is derived from a measurement of the conductivity of this layer. The measurement device comprises a) first (7) and second (10) electrodes placed on either side of and in electrical contact with at least a part of the layer (2) of the impregnated material of the reservoir, b) means (5) for passing the electric current of predetermined strength through the impregnated material and c) means (6) sensitive to the voltage (V) picked up between the electrodes (7, 10) in order to calculate the quantity of active principle contained in the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5499967
Abstract: The device comprises a switched-mode power supply (1) equipped with an electronic switching member (T.sub.1), the closing of which controls the power supply to an inductor (L.sub.1) which discharges, when the member reopens, into a capacitor (C.sub.1) at the terminals of which the output voltage of the device appears, characterized in that it comprises (a) storage means for recording a sequence of image numbers of successive segments of the predetermined waveform, (b) a clocked digital counter (2) and (c) means (3) for successively loading this counter (2) with each of the numbers of this sequence considered as a bound of the count performed by the counter (2), the latter cyclically controlling the closing of the switching member (T.sub.1) for a predetermined time interval, each time the count performed reaches the limit thus fixed.
