    Abstract: Apparatus for measuring blood glucose concentration comprises a laser source (14) capable of producing a radiation beam from a tunable laser, a collimator (12, 13) for collimating the radiation beam (21) to a small diameter, an optical arrangement (12, 13) for directing the collimated beam (21) through the anterior chamber (23) of an eye (22) in a direction such that it forms a angle of between 75° and 105° to the line of sight (24) of the eye so that the beam does not directly strike the retina (26) and in particular the macular (27). A spectrometer (1-6) is provided to measure the intensity of Raman scattered radiation at different wavelengths. Signal processing means (15) derives the blood glucose concentration from the measured intensities. In one embodiment the laser is tunable between 500 nm. and 700 nm. and the laser beam is collimated to a diameter of between 1 ?m and 200 ?m.

    Abstract: A process for watermarking images that includes embedding into the images before their transmission a message by modifying the data characteristic of the images. Further, a co-watermarking is performed by periodic embedding of a binary matrix into the image to determine on reception the co-ordinates of the origin of the initial image and allow the registration of the images received relative to this origin so as to make it possible to read the embedded message. Such a process may find particular application to the transmission of stationary or video images.

The incoupled light (32) interacts with the substance (2), which emits fluorescent light (42). Fluorescent light (42) is coupled out by the same grating structure (G), making use of a second set of degrees of freedom which differs from the first set of degrees of freedom in at least one degree of freedom. For example, the incident light (31) is coupled in using a first diffraction order mg,ex=1, and the emitted (42) light is coupled out using a second, different diffraction order mg,em=2.

The entire HP flow formed by the HP impeller is output via the insides of curved hollow blades forming a portion of the LP impeller, this HP centrifugal flow thus establishes a driving torque for the LP impeller.

    Abstract: A device and process for the storage of products in a frame and for the removal from the frame of products stored therein. A frame is provided with guides for guiding supports for the products over a distance in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the guides stretch separating the guide for one support from the guide for another support. There is a working place for a support removed from the frame or to be stored in said frame. An element removes one support from the frame and brings it on the working place and stores one support in the frame. A circuit feeds power to a system for moving the element in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction in which the guides stretch. A sensor detects a dimension of a support provided with the product to be stored and actuates a switch of the circuit so as to move the support for its storage when the dimension detected by the sensor is less than the distance between the guide on which the support has to be placed and the adjacent guide.

    Abstract: Inside a single casing the turbopump comprises a main shaft driven by a turbine, a secondary shaft coaxial with the main shaft, at least one low pressure boost impeller mounted on the secondary shaft. The LP fluid flow is brought parallel to the axis of the turbopump by a baffle and after being deflected through 180.degree. in a return channel it is returned parallel to the axis of the turbopump toward a high pressure impeller mounted on the main shaft inside the secondary shaft. The entire HP flow formed by the HP impeller is delivered axially to a boost turbine secured to the secondary shaft and to the LP boost impeller and disposed between the main shaft and the secondary shaft. Through orifices and an axial channel are formed in the main shaft to pass the flow of HP fluid leaving the boost turbine inside the main shaft and then to exhaust the HP fluid to a delivery channel secured to the casing through the radial arms situated at the inlet to the turbopump.
