Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting a data stream from a plurality of terminating (leaf) devices toward another terminating (root) device, the leaf and root devices forming the ends of a multipoint-to-point pseudowire based on a packet switched network to which the terminating devices belong, the method comprising: receiving, by a switching device, also belonging to the packet switched network, a first data stream sent by a first leaf device toward the root device, receiving, by the switching device, a second data stream sent by a second leaf device toward the root device, aggregating the first and second data streams into a third data stream, the switching device having been configured to aggregate the first and second data streams via a parameter called the aggregation parameter, included in a pseudowire establishment request, and transmitting the third data stream toward the root device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for establishing a first pseudo-wire between a first item of input terminal equipment and an item of output terminal equipment, used by the first item of input terminal equipment. The method includes a step of transmitting a first message requesting establishment of the first pseudo-wire to an item of switching equipment, the first pseudo-wire to be established consisting of a first link between the first item of input terminal equipment and the item of switching equipment and of a second link between the item of switching equipment and the item of output terminal equipment. In such a method, the first establishment-request message also includes a request to establish at least one backup pseudo-wire consisting of the second link and of a third link to be established between the item of switching equipment and a second item of input terminal equipment.

A first link of the first pseudo-wire is set up between the first output router and an intermediate router of the packet-switched network. A second link of the second pseudo-wire is set up between the second output router and the intermediate router. A third link of both pseudo-wires is set up between the intermediate router and the input router.

Abstract: A method is provided for communicating between first and second routers, the routers being part of a packet-switched network. The method includes a stage of transmitting data over a pseudowire set up between the first and second routers, the data being transmitted in accordance with a parameter of the pseudowire. The method includes at least one step of sending a modification request message of the parameter at the initiative of one of the two routers, to the other router, and during the stage of transmission over the pseudowire. Also, a method is provided for processing data transmitted over such a pseudowire. The method includes a stage of transmission of data over the pseudowire, the data being transmitted in accordance with a parameter of the pseudowire. The method includes, during the transmission stage, at least one of the routers receiving a modification request message of the parameter of the pseudowire.
