  • Patent number: 5094156
Abstract: A particulate comestible material is agglomerated by an apparatus which has two movable endless surfaces positioned to form a nip therebetween. The apparatus provides for forming a flowable phase at the surfaces of particulate material supplied to the nip which are then conveyed through the nip so that the particles converge, merge, join and consolidate, and then the flowable phase is resolidified.

  • Patent number: 5051269
Abstract: A particulate comestible material is agglomerated by forming a flowable phase on the particle surfaces, consolidating the particles by passing them through a nip and resolidifying the flowable phase. The color, texture and density may be adjusted by controlling the degree of consolidation and the conditions of flowable phase formation.
