  • Publication number: 20180346393
Abstract: A composite explosive product, wherein its composition expressed as percentages by weight includes 85% to 92% of organic energetic charges; the organic energetic charges a) being selected from charges of octogen (HMX), hexogen (RDX), hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (CL20), penthrite (PETN), and mixtures thereof, and b) presenting a grain size distribution with a value for D90 less than 15 ?m and a value for D50 less than or equal to 5 ?m; and 7% to 12% of a polymer gum selected from polyurethane-polyester gums, polyurethane-polyether gums, and mixtures thereof, of number average molecular weight greater than 20,000 g/mol and of Mooney viscosity lying in the range 20 to 70 ML (5+4) at 100° C.; and wherein the composite explosive product has a thickness lying in the range 0.4 mm to 5 mm.

  • Publication number: 20160289134
Abstract: A composite pyrotechnic product, especially a propellant powder for barrel weapons, containing organic energetic charges in a crosslinked binder, has a composition, expressed as weight percentages, that contains from 78% to 90% of organic energetic charges, and from 10% to 22% of an energetic crosslinked binder obtained by crosslinking, via 8% to 12% of its azide functions, a polyglycidyl azide with a number-average molecular weight of between 700 and 3000 g/mol, with a crosslinking agent containing at least two propargyl functions in its chemical formula, in the presence of a polymeric gum, chosen from polyurethane-polyester gums, polyurethane-polyether gums and mixtures thereof, the number-average molecular weight of which is greater than 20000 g/mol and the Mooney viscosity of which is between 20 and 70 ML (5+4) at 100° C.; the at least one polymeric gum representing from 1% to 5% by weight of the composition of the pyrotechnic product.

  • Patent number: 4657607
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of compound pyrotechnic products. The invention relates to a three-step, solvent-free process for the manufacture of compound pyrotechnic products containing a thermosetting binder obtained by reaction of a polyhydroxylated prepolymer with a diisocyanate, which process is characterized in that:in a first step the said prepolymer is mixed with an energetic charge and with a quantity of diisocyanate representing 50 to 90% of the required stoichiometric quantity,in a second step the remainder required to attain the said stoichiometric quantity is added and, after mixing, the pasty mixture thus obtained is extruded,in a third step the crosslinking of the thermosetting binder is completed hot.The invention makes it possible to obtain industrially, by extrusion, small-diameter pyrotechnic products containing a thermosetting binder without restriction on the "pot life" period. The invention is particularly suitable for the production of compound propellent powders for arms.
