  • Publication number: 20230283338
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for hybrid beamforming. An example method can include determining a plurality of digital beamforming weights associated with a plurality of digital beamforming paths between digital beamformers and groups of analog beamforming circuits in a phased array antenna, each digital beamforming path being coupled to a group of analog beamforming circuits and each analog beamforming circuit being coupled to a respective set of antenna elements of the phased array antenna, and determining analog beamforming weights associated with the groups of analog beamforming circuits. The analog beamforming weights are estimated to put analog beamforming paths associated with the groups of analog beamforming circuits in a desired phase and gain relationship with each other.

  • Patent number: 9197255
Abstract: A RF transmitter includes a power amplifier that generates a transmit signal modulated with outbound data for transmission to a remote communication device via an antenna section. A supply voltage to power the power amplifier is adjusted based on an average power tracking signal. A reflected power from the antenna section is measured. The average power tracking signal is adjusted based on the reflected power to compensate for the changes in impedance of the antenna section and to maintain a desired linearity.

  • Patent number: 8643433
Abstract: Embodiments of a two-stage bypass power amplifier are provided. In general, the two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to receive a RF signal that is to be transmitted to a remote device and provide gain to the RF signal prior to the RF signal being transmitted to the remote device. The two-stage bypass power amplifier is configured to operate efficiently (in terms of power) at two different gain or output power levels and can be extended to operate efficiently at additional gain or output power levels.

  • Patent number: 8280324
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for closed loop power control in wireless systems are provided. In this regard, an output power of an amplifier may be measured and an indication of the measured power may be compared to a reference signal. The results of the comparison are utilized to generate an error correction factor. The gain of a preamplifier may be adjusted utilizing the error correction factor, where the output of the preamplifier may be input to the amplifier. The error correction factor may be generated via a proportional integral derivative controller. The gain of the preamplifier may be adjusted via at least one control signal, where the at least one control signal may be generated based on a reference control word and the error correction factor. The indication of the measured power and the reference signal may be time aligned.

  • Patent number: 7710204
Abstract: A radio frequency device comprises a radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA) operably coupled to a protection circuit for minimising voltage standing wave ratio effects, wherein the protection circuit comprises a current limiter indexed to a power supplied to the RF PA. In this manner, the protection circuit combines detection of both current and voltage increase in order to provide a direct feedback on the final RF PA stage via a bias control.
