  • Patent number: 11320980
Abstract: A system for flight and task management timeline display is disclosed. In embodiments, the timeline display is positioned on an edge of a primary flight display (PFD) or other avionics display, divided lengthwise into time (e.g., absolute time) and space (e.g., relative time and distance) scales. The timeline display expands situational awareness into the temporal dimension by positioning waypoints in the flight path based on the relative time to passage or flyover. The time scale corresponds to an adjustable time range and automatically scrolls lengthwise according to the current time, but can be manually zoomed or scrolled in past and future directions as well. Based on updates from the flight management system (FMS), the space scale displays relative time-distanced events, notifications for reminders and tasks, and waypoints positioned according to the likely times they will be encountered (or, in the case of reminders and tasks, must be fulfilled).

  • Patent number: 9621890
Abstract: A method and a device are described for modifying a video frame for encoding or decoding wherein values of pixels of the video frame are represented an increased bit depth. The described method comprises using processing means for executing the step of offsetting the pixel values of increased bit depth with offsets, the offsets depending on a spatial neighbourhood of the pixel to-be-offset. Such local adaptive offsetting of pixel values de-emphasizes high frequencies in the transform domain artificially emphasized by the bit depth increase.

  • Publication number: 20150189297
Abstract: Said method comprises using a processing means for quantizing a transform of a residual of an intra-prediction of the image block using a quantization parameter value and encoding the quantized transform, further using a processing means for determining that an already used quantization parameter value and corresponding coding cost are available in a storage means, the already used a quantization parameter value being already used for quantizing of a further image block close resembling the image block or having a same complexity as the image block and using the already used quantization parameter value, the corresponding coding cost and a target bit rate for determining the quantization parameter value. Thus, the quantization parameter value can be determined such that flickering artifacts are avoided.

  • Patent number: 8504224
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring risky atmospheric areas. The invention relates to an onboard device connected to meteorological measurement systems making it possible to calculate danger detection areas in front of the aircraft in order to detect potential areas of penetration of the aircraft into risky atmospheric areas. The areas of intersection between the detection areas and the risky meteorological areas are calculated according to the trajectory of the aircraft stored in the navigation system. The method makes it possible to generate alerts and force the display of the meteorological situation in front of the aircraft in case of danger.

  • Patent number: 8416992
Abstract: Detection of the salient points in an image enable the improvement of further steps such as coding or image indexing, watermarking, video quality estimation. The methods rely on the fact that a model is fully based on the human visual system (HVS) such as the computation of early visual features, and the methods compute a saliency map for video images taking into account motion and the velocity of the eye.

  • Patent number: 8285064
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for processing images, texture pattern blocks representative of a typical texture of the images being stored in a memory, the method comprising the following steps: transforming the pixel grey levels of a current block into a current block of frequency coefficients using a predefined transform; building up a merger block, each frequency coefficient positioned at a defined place of the merger block being equal either to the frequency coefficient positioned at the same place of the current block, or to the frequency coefficient positioned at the same place of a texture pattern block among the texture pattern blocks stored in the memory; selecting a merger block according to a predefined function (J); and replacing in the image the current block by the selected merger block. The invention also concerns an electronic device for processing the corresponding images.

  • Patent number: 8140264
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of onboard terrain anticollision systems for aircraft. Collisions with the terrain while the aircraft is fully controlled have been and still remain one of the main causes of air disasters. Several generations of devices for warning of risk of collision with the terrain have been developed for some thirty years now. The most advanced of these systems comprise means of alarm differing according to the maneuver to be performed by the pilot. It is of course vital that the recommended maneuver best guarantee the safety of the aircraft. The device according to the invention proposes a device comprising the calculation of several different safety surfaces or profiles. Their comparisons with the topographic data of the surrounding terrain make it possible to deduce therefrom the best alarm and the best maneuver to be performed to avoid the collision between the aircraft and the ground.
