  • Publication number: 20140170157
Abstract: Methods of treatment for Crohn's disease and multiple sclerosis are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for repositioning a pharmaceutical by selecting at least one target gene, gene product, or loci associated with the treatment of at least one first disease, trait, or phenotype by the pharmaceutical, identifying at least one second disease, trait, or phenotype associated with the least one target gene, gene product, or loci using genome-wide associated studies, and selecting at least one identified second disease, trait and/or phenotype based on step for treatment with the pharmaceutical.

  • Publication number: 20060099682
Abstract: The invention provides novel human vanilloid receptor (hVR) proteins, in particular hVR1 and hVR3, nucleotide sequences encoding for the novel hVR proteins, and hVR proteins for use in a method for screening for agents useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of disorders which are responsive to modulation of hVR activity in a human patient. The invention also provides expression vectors comprising said nucleotide sequences, stable cell lines comprising said expression vectors, antibodies specific for the novel hVR proteins, methods for the identification of compounds which exhibit hVR modulating activity, compounds identifiable and identified by such methods, and methods of treatment or prophylaxis of disorders which are responsive to modulation of hVR activity in a human patient.

  • Publication number: 20030171545
Abstract: A method for in a the identification of a compound which modulates leukotriene B4 like (LTRGW1) receptor activity comprises contacting an LTRGW1 polypeptide comprising) The amino acid sequence of SEQ ID #2, or ii) A variant of (i) which is capable of binding leukotrienes: or iii) A fragment of (i) or (ii) which is capable of binding leukotrienes. Additionally. LTRGW1 has been determined to enhance the response of the leukotriene B4 Receptor (BLTR) to LTB4. Hence LTRGW1 may be used in methods to indentify compounds which modulate BLTR receptor activity.
