  • Patent number: 6360109
Abstract: A terminal, automatic recall procedure, and telecommunication system are disclosed which include means for integrating an automatic repeat call function in a terminal of a telecommunication network provided with a data transfer protocol which operates in the simultaneous bidirectional mode. The automatic repeat call function is realized by a device which is integrated in a local terminal provided with a command which is to be triggered after an effort to achieve a connection to a distant terminal has failed, with the object of automatically repeating the effort until the connection has been established, but staying within the limit of a given number of repeat operations.

  • Patent number: 5953408
Abstract: A telephone is disclosed which includes a transducer and a controller. The transducer produces a sound having a level which varies as a function of the frequency and duty cycle of an excitation signal. The controller provides the excitation signal which has different frequencies, such as a coded melody. The controller varies the duty cycle so that the level of the sound from the transducer remains constant at the different frequencies. The telephone also includes a memory for storing values of the duty cycle corresponding to the different frequencies. These values allow the level of the sound to remain constant at the different frequencies. The controller codes the melody by storing in a table of the memory components of the melody, such as notes, silences, repetitions, the duration of each note or each silence, and a repetition number for melody components which are to be repeated. A time limit is also included in the table when the repetition number is infinite.

  • Patent number: 5924045
Abstract: A telephone is disclosed having a dummy removable SIM card which inhibits normal operation of the telephone while allowing turn-on of the telephone for demonstration purposes, as well as for memory back-up and restore purposes. The dummy removable SIM card authorizes operation of the telephone except for the transceiver, thus allowing a potential buyer to inspect the telephone features, such as seeing menus on the display, hearing tones, and cycling through different modes of the telephone. For compliance with telephone standards, such as the GSM standard, the dummy removable SIM card allows emergency calls which are typically free of charge and do not incur network connection charges.
