  • Patent number: 4964443
Abstract: A mechanism for presenting weft threads on rapier weaving machines includes a cam mechanism, cam follower devices, armatures connected to the cam follower devices, and thread presentation arms. The cam mechanism and cam follower devices impart reciprocating movements to the armatures such that, alternately, for each successive weaving cycle, the armature connected to one of the cam follower devices cause the movement of one of the thread presentation arms into a presented position, while the armatures connected to the other cam follower device move back to a rest position a thread presentation arm which has just been presented.

  • Patent number: 4909286
Abstract: A method for regulating the supply of weft thread on weaving machines includes the steps of winding the weft thread from a thread supply by means of a draw-off roller driven by a motor, supplying the thread to an accumulator, and controlling the draw-off roller motor by a pulse train generated on the basis of a set value and a second pulse train whose frequency is proportional to the main shaft of the weaving machine. By adjusting the set value, the speed of the draw-off roller can be adjusted to account for such factors as thread type, thickness extensibility and diameter, and also thread supply package diameter and variations in thread draw-off speed. A device for implementing the method of the invention includes, in a preferred embodiment, a cam, a set value setting unit, a shaft pulse generator for generating the second pulse train, a buffer, and a counter which adds the set value and the second pulse train to generate the first pulse train.

  • Patent number: 4874018
Abstract: A drive system for weaving machines includes normally coupled main and auxiliary drive shafts for at least the batten and heddles of the weaving machine, respectively, with the shafts driven by main and auxiliary drive motors at different speeds through appropriate speed reducers and couplings. The shafts are coupled together at one point by an adjustable coupling that is controllable remotely so as to permit fine adjustment between the relative angular positions of the main and auxiliary drive shafts and therefore between the batten and heddle positions. This system has particular application during weaving machine start-up after a weaving interruption; e.g., when a thread break occurs. Various embodiments are described.

  • Patent number: 4850398
Abstract: A weft thread is inserted in a fluid jet loom by accelerating the weft thread to its insertion speed before the thread reaches the outlet of the main blower nozzle. The thread is accelerated to its insertion speed, for example, by an auxiliary nozzle upstream of the main blowing nozzle of the loom. Multiple weft threads may be inserted in a fluid jet loom by feeding each weft thread from a different supply source to individual weft thread supply channels and thereafter placing selected supply channels in communication with a through channel in a movable conduit block that selectively establishes communication between a single weft thread supply channel and the main blower nozzle. The conduit block can be mounted for various different movements to effect weft thread communication with the main blower.
