  • Publication number: 20240103799
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling media playback via physical tokens (e.g., items of media content such as photographs) are disclosed. A media playback system can include an audio playback device and a control device. The control device includes a sensor configured to sense a tag of the physical token. The control device can obtain data by sensing the tag of the physical token via the sensor. Based on the obtained data, the control device transmits a request for media content to one or more remote computing devices associated with a media content service, and causes playback of the requested media content via the audio playback device. Additionally or alternatively, spatial audio content can be generated and played back based on a media item characteristic obtained via the sensor data.

  • Publication number: 20240086140
Abstract: Example techniques relate to playback queue subscriptions. An example implementation involves a computing system receiving, from a first computing device associated with a first user account, an instruction to enable subscription to a first playback queue associated with a first media playback system. In response to the instruction, the computing system enables second user accounts to subscribe to the first playback queue. The second user accounts are registered with respective second media playback systems in respective second household. The computing system receives, from a particular second media playback system, a request to subscribe to the first playback queue; and in response, sends one or more messages that update a control interface of the first control device to display a subscriber indication and (ii) sends one or more messages that populate a second playback queue of the particular second media playback system with audio tracks of the first playback queue.

  • Patent number: 11758317
Abstract: Wireless headphones with user controls and methods for using are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless headphone includes a left earcup comprising a left speaker driver and a left earcup housing; and a right earcup comprising a right speaker driver and a right earcup housing; a processor; a microphone; user controls including: a voice assistant activator control; a volume slider; a play control slider; a play-pause control; and instructions configuring the processor to: commence a voice assistant recognition routine when sound received by the microphone matches a wake word, and perform an action based on instructions returned from the voice assistant; update a current volume of the headphone to a higher volume when the volume slider receives a swipe; skip to a next track of a current media content when the play control slider receives a swipe; and toggle playback of the media content when the play-pause control is activated.

  • Publication number: 20230078055
Abstract: A manufacturing process for a grille element of a media playback system is provided. In one embodiment a sheet of plastic is thermoformed into a desired shape. Holes may have been drilled into the sheet of plastic prior to being thermoformed. Once thermoformed into the desired shape, a coating is applied and cured via a subsequent heat treatment process that anneals the material to remove additional stresses in the material from thermoforming. Once formed and heat treated, the formed component can be bonded to profile substrates to help maintain the formed desired shape.

  • Patent number: 11528551
Abstract: Playback devices such as headphone devices can include an earpiece configured to be positioned adjacent a user's ear. The earpiece can include a transducer having a diaphragm configured to face toward the user's ear when the earpiece is positioned adjacent the user's ear, as well as an outlet vent in fluid communication with the transducer and a microphone. A support member within the earpiece includes a first opening aligned with the microphone and a second opening aligned with the outlet vent. An acoustic mesh extends over the first opening and the second opening, wherein the mesh has a substantially uniform acoustic impedance.
