  • Patent number: 4363235
Abstract: Apparatus for the automatic removal of a sample from a production line comprises a rotary removal arm connected to a vacuum source for bringing the sample into a position opposite a diametral bore in a rotary disc. The disc is intended to bring the sample into a transfer position. The disc may be associated with devices for checking the pressure drop and weight of the sample. The sample may be reintroduced back into the production line.

  • Patent number: 4274317
Abstract: A method of monitoring continuously advancing string material (1) of the kind comprising a continuous alternating succession of string sections, for example a cigarette filter string, of different material and/or structural configuration with regard to cutting the string (1) into identical plugs (7) for checking and correcting the position of each cut. Prior to being cut the string (1) is scanned by a sensor unit (4) which detects the beginning and end of each string section. A device associated with the cutting device (5) generates an output signal to indicate the moment when the string (1) is cut. Between this output signal and the moment at which the sensor unit (4) issues a signal corresponding to the end of the string section to be cut, a measured value is obtained which is independent of the feed into of the string (1) and which is proportioned to the length of the string section between the two signals.

  • Patent number: 4212541
Abstract: In a method for testing a continuously forward-moving strand a light beam which passes along a plane that extends approximately perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the strand is introduced into the strand. The brightness value is measured on a place of the strand exterior which is distal from the light incidence place by means of at least one photoelectronic element disposed directly on the strand exterior and the measured result is evaluated in a gating circuit which is electrically connected to the photoelectronic element.
