  • Publication number: 20230257853
Abstract: An aluminum alloy sheet includes an aluminum alloy composition. The aluminum alloy composition includes: a first component; and a second component. The first component includes recycled material and the second component includes non-recycled material. The aluminum alloy composition includes a recycled content of at least 50%. The ultimate tensile strength of the aluminum alloy sheet is from 37 ksi to 52 ksi and the tensile yield strength of the aluminum alloy sheet is from 34 ksi to 47 ksi. An aluminum alloy composition, a method of making an aluminum alloy sheet, a method of making an aluminum package, and a method of making an aluminum alloy composition are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100089873
Abstract: A method of producing a metal structure with a grooved wicking surface is provided. An aluminum alloy is provided that is thermomechanically processed to produce grain size and shape suitable for wicking. Then, the alloy is heat treated to produce a continuous etchable phase on the grain boundaries. The alloy is then etched with a solvent that dissolves the continuous etchable phase on the grain boundaries to produce the metal structure with a grooved wicking surface. In addition, the method of producing a laminate metal structure with a grooved wicking surface is provided. The laminate is provided with at least a top layer and a bottom layer where the top layer and bottom layer are made of an aluminum alloy. The laminate is thermomechanically processed to produce grain size and shape spanning the entire depth of the top layer suitable for wicking. Then, the laminate is heat treated to produce a continuous etchable phase on the grain boundaries within the top layer.

  • Publication number: 20100037997
Abstract: Described is a method for forming an internal frame configured to receive a flat screen display. Aggressive partial annealing is applied to a hard temper 5182 aluminum alloy material having magnesium content greater than or equal to 3.0 wt. %. The material is partial annealed to an extent that the hard temper aluminum alloy is substantially softened with respect to its initial hardened temper while not exceeding the point where recrystallization occurs. An internal frame for a flat screen display is formed from the partial annealed aluminum alloy.

  • Patent number: 7536072
Abstract: Disclosed is an armored electrical or optical cable that includes at least one flexible elongated conducting member for conducting electrical or optical signals and an armor layer surrounding the conducting member, the armor layer including a 5xxx aluminum alloy having greater than 3 wt. % Mg. Such aluminum alloys include, e.g., 5182. Other alternative alloys are disclosed. In one embodiment, the aluminum alloy material is a 5xxx alloy material having an elongation that is 8% or greater, a tensile yield strength that is 207 MPa (30 ksi) or greater, and an ultimate tensile strength that is 276 MPa (40 ksi) or greater. The disclosed armor layer provides substantial weight reduction and cost benefits over steel cable armor, is more environmentally friendly than steel, and has physical properties that are comparable to or better than that of steel.
