  • Patent number: 5806228
Abstract: An improved scope mounting base for securing a scope to the carrying handle of M-16 type rifles without interfering with the sight tunnel formed through the top of the carrying handle. In a preferred form the scope mounting base comprises a readily detachable, elongated body having a generally U-shaped interior handle-engaging contour which mates securely to the undersigned exterior surfaces of the carrying handle, and exterior scope-mounting surfaces located along the exterior side surfaces of the carrying handle. This arrangement leaves the sight tunnel through the top of the carrying handle unobstructed, and allows the detachable base to remain on the rifle when the scope is removed while still permitting the unimpaired use of the iron sights. In an alternate embodiment the exterior scope-mounting surfaces, preferably in the form of dovetail-type rails such as Weaver or NATO Stanag, are formed integrally into the exterior side surfaces of the carrying handle.

  • Patent number: 5787630
Abstract: An improved ring mount for mounting scopes and similar devices to firearms, comprising a vertically split mount having an upper ring portion, a lower mounting portion which can be drawn together for a transverse clamping action on a scope base, each clamping half comprising an integral, identical half. Draw bolts on the lower mounting portion are used to pull the clamping halves together in a pivoting motion from the top to the bottom of the ring mount which firmly clamps the scope in the ring portion prior to the lower mounting portion being lockingly clamped to the scope base. In a preferred form the ring mount is formed as a continuously extruded half with built in multiple height adjustments in the lower mounting portion, allowing the user to cut the extrusion into virtually any combination of lengths, ring spacings, height options.

  • Patent number: 5634288
Abstract: A replacement gas tube for an SKS rifle features unitary construction to provide increased rigidity and improved vibrational and heat transfer characteristics. The gas tube also features at least one area of increased wall thickness in the handguard region in which is formed a mounting hole to permit the detachable mounting of a hand guard or other accessories.

  • Patent number: 5631438
Abstract: A gas pressure deflector system mounted on the exterior of a muzzle brake for a firearm barrel. The gas pressure deflector system comprises two deflectors adjustably positioned along the longitudinal axis of the brake to bracket the muzzle brake vent apertures. The deflectors create a pressure equalizing trap serving to smooth out the pressure pulse differential occurring along the muzzle brake gas venting region when a bullet is fired, thereby enhancing bullet accuracy and reducing recoil.

  • Patent number: 5522166
Abstract: A replacement receiver cover having an integral scope mounting structure is provided for use on a rifle. A pair of integral side rails are located along the longitudinal axis of the receiver cover and are positioned on opposite sides of the cover. The side rails reduce movement of the receiver cover on the firearm. A pair of integral guides are disposed longitudinally on the outer surface of the receiver cover and form a longitudinal channel located between the guides. The integral guides provide a mounting structure for securing a sighting device to the firearm.
