Patent number: 8985458Abstract: A system and method for converting fingerprint cards into electronic files is provided having a computer system for inputting biographical information from each of the cards into memory of, or accessible by, the computer, and encoding the biographical information into a barcode which is printed by a printer on a label for affixing to the card. A scanner is operated for scanning each of the cards having the affixed label associated with the card. For each scanned image of a card, the computer system or another computer system decodes the biographical information from the barcode in the scanned image, segments fingerprint images of the fingerprints of different types of fingers at locations in the scanned image, and stores at least the decoded biographical information and the fingerprint images in an electronic fingerprint file for the card and/or a record in a database.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2014Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Cross Match Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Phillip Davis, John Bagocius, William Cavett

Publication number: 20090166141Abstract: An improved design for a rolling suitcase having a retractable handle assembly is disclosed. The design includes a multi-piece molded shell having opposing side and end walls and a bottom wall, which together form a packing area. The telescoping tubes of the handle are located outside the packing area to maximize the packing area, and also to provide a flat bottom surface to minimize wrinkling of packed articles. The wheel skids are moved to the outer corners of the suitcase to minimize intrusion into the packing area. The tubes are made from fiber reinforced polymer for enhanced strength, and are concealed from view by a covering envelope. The handle assembly and wheel skids attach to the shell in a manner that enhances the structural strength and rigidity of the suitcase. Wear points on the handle assembly are provided with removable wear members made from abrasion-resistant material.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2007Publication date: July 2, 2009Applicant: HL Operating Corp.Inventors: Robert Phillip Davis, Ken Hinman, Richard Rekuc

Publication number: 20090101528Abstract: A garment enclosure is disclosed having top and bottom panels, first and second side panels, and first and second end panels. The enclosure has a longitudinal axis and an unfolded length. First and second cylindrical members are connected to the top panel and oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. First and second extensible panels are connected to the bottom panel at locations adjacent respective first and second cylindrical members. The extensible panels are extensible in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the garment enclosure. The extensible panels are not connected to the first and second side panels, so that when a garment is placed within the enclosure and the enclosure is folded about the first and second cylindrical members, the extensible panels extend longitudinally to prevent binding of the garment at the fold points. The elimination of binding substantially eliminates wrinkling of the garment. A method of using the garment enclosure is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2007Publication date: April 23, 2009Applicant: HL OPERATING CORP.Inventor: Robert Phillip Davis

Patent number: 6902712Abstract: The present invention is directed to an absorbent liner for use in a sterilization process and, more particularly, to an absorbent liner for cushioning surgical instruments and sterilization packs and providing an advantageous moisture absorption functionality during and after completion of a sterilization process. The absorbent liner functions advantageously with steam or ethylene oxide gas as the sterilization agent. The absorbent liner is fabricated from a material having a desired level of moisture absorption, e.g., on the order of at least about thirty percent (30%) by dry weight, and is preferably fabricated from a hydrophilic polymeric foam material, e.g., a hydrophilic polyurethane foam. The disclosed absorbent liner may be advantageously utilized in sterilizing surgical instruments and in conjunction with sterilization carts such that potential residual moisture is eliminated from the surface of the sterilized surgical instruments and the shelves of the sterilization carts.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2001Date of Patent: June 7, 2005Assignee: General Hospital Supply CorporationInventor: Phillip Davis

Publication number: 20050036664Abstract: A process in which a ridge flow analysis of a fingerprint image can be used to determine a fingerprint classification. Areas of like valued ridge flow are collected as regions and said regions are then joined together when edges of the regions exist. These vertices are then reduced to form polygons. Polygons that have a predetermined number of vertices (i.e., 8) and contain values from across a range of the possible ridge flow values (i.e., one of each possible ridge flow value) from the ridge flow table are primary polygons associated with singularity points. These singularity points are further identified as cores or deltas allowing the print image to be globally classified as loop, arch or whorl. Further techniques including, but not limited to, ridge counting can be used to classify the fingerprint as a left or right loop, plain or tented arch, or whorl.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2004Publication date: February 17, 2005Inventor: Phillip Davis
