  • Patent number: 5154697
Abstract: A topical hyperbaric apparatus and method is disclosed for treating wounds and lesions on a patient's body. The hyperbaric apparatus includes a shell constructed of flexible plastic material which enables the shell which provides a substantially closed internal chamber to be arrangable between an expanded and collapsed configuration having a substantially reduced volume. As a result, the hyperbaric apparatus can be economically shipped to distant locations while minimizing storage requirements. The hyperbaric apparatus is expanded for use during normal application of therapeutic gases for treatment of the patient's wounds or lesions after being adhered to the patient's body using an adhesive material. The construction of the shell form plastic-like material allows the shell to be washable during patient use which is particularly pertinent when treating incontinent patients.

  • Patent number: 5060644
Abstract: A hyperbaric apparatus for the hyperbaric application of therapeutic gases is provided which consists of a generally integral housing which defines an internal chamber. This generally integral housing includes several openings. Removable closures are provided for removable attachment to the housing for the sealing of each of these openings. One such closure includes a limb introduction and sealing mechanism. Also provided are gas inlet and outlet mechanisms connected to the housing for the introduction, control and maintenance of therapeutic gases within the internal chamber of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4801291
Abstract: A topical hyperbaric apparatus and method is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a shell having at least one flexible wall portion which provides an external surface and defines a substantially closed internal chamber. The wall portion has an opening therethrough communicating with the internal chamber. The flexible wall portion is sufficiently flexible so as to be capable of conforming to an irregularly shaped surface of a patient's body. An adhesive sealing material is provided on the flexible wall portion for adhesively sealing the shell to the patient's body about the portion to be treated. A gas impermeable liner lines the internal chamber and makes the internal chamber substantially gas impermeable. Therapeutic gases are introduced into the internal chamber to therapeutically treat a portion of the patient's body encompassed by the opening.
