Publication number: 20240065719Abstract: A device for removing tissue includes a housing having an outer tube extending therefrom including an axis defined therealong. A middle tube is supported within the outer tube having an opening at a distal end with an edge. The middle tube includes a swage proximate the area of engagement between the middle and outer tubes. An inner tube is disposed within the middle tube and includes an opening having teeth at a distal end in registration with the opening in the middle tube, the inner tube rotates relative to the middle tube and the teeth, and the edge cooperate to cut tissue. A lumen is defined through the inner tube and extends from the opening to a suction source. The swage of the middle tube and the increased inner diameter associated therewith allows the inner tube to maintain a constant inner diameter along a length thereof, reducing choke points along the lumen.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2022Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Bo D. Publication number: 20220071668Abstract: A multi-stage minimally invasive surgical procedure and associated instruments are disclosed. First, the surgical site is prepared. After preparation, the bone screws or anchors are attached to the bone. Subsequent to insertion of the screws, a rod or connecting member is positioned within the yoke portion of the bone screw. Caps are then placed in a pre-lock position within the yokes. The bone screws may be compressed together or distracted along the rod or connecting member, thereby setting the final spacing of the bones or bone segments. Finally the caps are moved to a final lock position to fix the screws to the rod or connecting member to maintain the bones in position relative to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2021Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Matthew P. Gephart, Matthew N. Songer, Ernest N. Corrao, Phillip J. Berman

Publication number: 20190262006Abstract: A surgical cutting instrument including an outer tubular member having a proximal section, an intermediate section and a central lumen. An inner tubular member is rotatably received within the central lumen and includes a distal end having a bur extending distally beyond, and exposed relative to, the distal section of the outer tubular member. The bur defines an aspiration pathway that is at least partially oriented at an angle with respect to a central axis of the bur. The aspiration pathway terminates at an opening that can be provided through a head of the bur or proximal to the head. Various embodiments of the disclosure have been shown to reduce clogging of the aspiration pathway during use, particularly during end on drilling. Various embodiments further include a sleeve for reducing lumen clogging as well as irrigation pathways that increase cooling of embodiments utilizing a distal bearing assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2018Publication date: August 29, 2019Applicant: Medtronic Xomed, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey M.
