  • Patent number: 7053847
Abstract: A phased array antenna structure capable of operation at millimeter-wave frequencies and having multiple ring slot radiator elements (10). The RF feed structure for each radiator element includes a feed via (28) extending part-way through a multi-layer structure (FIG. 3) on which the radiator elements (10) are formed and a strip line feed probe (30) extending from the via (28) toward the radiator element. A key feature facilitating high-frequency operation is the inclusion of multiple mode suppressors (32) surrounding the via (28) and providing a smooth transition from a coaxial mode of RF transmission to a strip line mode of RF transmission. The feed probe (30) is tailored to provide either a narrow-band or a wideband frequency characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6201508
Abstract: An injection molded phased array antenna system such as may advantageously employed on satellites. The antenna system comprises a plurality of metal plated, injection molded plastic horn radiating elements respectively coupled to a plurality of metal plated, injection molded plastic orthomode junctions that produce a corresponding plurality of vertically and horizontally polarized outputs. A metal plated, injection molded plastic vertical and horizontal beamforming networks is coupled to outputs of the plurality of orthomode junctions that establish unique phases and amplitudes that produce two separate outputs associated with two independent beams.

  • Patent number: 5539415
Abstract: This invention is a small, inexpensive lightweight, easy to assemble multibeam or phased array device which may be used as a feed for a reflector or lens antenna. The device employs an array of planar radiators coupled to stripline hybrids to form individual feed or antenna elements. The feed or antenna elements are then coupled into a filter in order to pass the desired band or frequencies and reject undesirable bands or frequencies.
