Patent number: 9428405Abstract: A valve (16) comprising a housing (30), a valve filter media (34) and an actuator (48). The housing (30) defines a chamber (32) having an inlet (44) and outlet (48). The media (34) is positioned within the chamber (30) such that liquids flowing between the inlet (44) and outlet (48) pass through the media (34). The valve filter media (34) is formed of a material which can absorb hydrocarbons, causing the media (34) to change its material properties thereby restricting the flow of liquids through the valve (16) and increasing the pressure differential across the media (34). The actuator (48) has at least a portion positioned within the housing chamber (32). If the pressure differential across the media (34) exceeds a predetermined threshold, the media (34) bears against the actuator (48) causing the actuator (48) to restrict the flow of liquids through the valve (16).Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2013Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: Parker Hannifin Manufacturing (UK) LTD.Inventor: Phillip R. Patent number: 8733087Abstract: A drain system and method for draining a first liquid, including a collection vessel having a first chamber arranged to receive the first liquid, a second chamber, and higher and lower valves positioned between the first and second chambers. When the valves are open, liquids can pass between the chambers. When the pressure in the second chamber exceeds that in the first chamber by more than a first predetermined amount, the valves are closed. A first outlet to the second chamber allows liquids to flow from the second chamber. In a first mode, the first inlet supplies a second liquid at a pressure higher than that of the first liquid in the first chamber such that the valves are closed. In a second mode, the first inlet stops supplying the second liquid such that the pressure in the second chamber reduces relative to the first chamber allowing the valves open.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2010Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: Parker-Hannifin (UK) Ltd.Inventor: Phillip R. Patent number: 8268170Abstract: A filter including a filter bowl (4), filer head (48) and filter element (2). The filter element (2) comprises a locking ring (12), a first end cap (6) coupled to the locking ring (12), a filter media (10) coupled to the first end cap (6), and a locking rib (30) extending outwardly from the locking ring (12). The locking rib (30) comprises a first portion (34) which extends radially from the locking ring (12) and a second portion (38) which extends from the first portion (34) around the periphery of the locking ring (12). At least part of the second portion (38) of the locking rib (30) is arranged to flex relative to the first portion (34) of the locking rib (30). The locking rib (30) forms part of a bayonet connection.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Parker Hannifin (UK) Ltd.Inventors: Phillip R. Core, Digby J.
