  • Patent number: 11953516
Abstract: The present invention is a self-disengaging pitot tube cover having a split cylinder configuration and an internal release mechanism, which is triggered by a temperature sensitive mechanism upon detecting a predetermined temperature so that the pitot tube cover separates and is released from the pitot tube at a predetermined temperature.

Date of Patent: April 9, 2024
    Assignee: DeGroff Aviation Technologies
Inventors: Steven A. DeGroff, Phillip R. Russell, David J. Hockemeyer
  • Publication number: 20230333136
Abstract: The present invention is a self-disengaging pitot tube cover which is constituted by at least two separable sections where separation of the sections is controlled by temperature sensing and effected by an SMA latch holding the sections together; so that the sections separate from the pitot tube when a particular temperature condition inside the pitot tube occurs.

  • Patent number: 11740257
Abstract: A self-disengaging pitot tube cover which is a longitudinally segmented substantially cylindrical structure constituted by at least two separable segments where separation of at least two segments is controlled by temperature sensing and effected by a fusible link holding two adjacent segments together; so that the separated segments lose hold on the pitot tube, when a particular temperature of the pitot tube is reached.

  • Patent number: 11480586
Abstract: The present invention is directed to multiple arrangements of a self-disengaging pitot tube cover, which can be triggered by a plurality of different environmental conditions while the cover admits to a plurality of different latching mechanisms and opening configurations to guarantee the expeditious, automatic removal of the pitot tube cover while avoiding damage or contamination of the pitot tube itself.

  • Patent number: 5510782
Abstract: A back lit keypad device and method for fabricating it are described, which facilitates construction of a low cost, durable, and attractive keypad of the "reverse graphics illumination" type (which is opaque everywhere except for illuminated characters at the tops of the keys). The keypad device includes a shell (30, FIG. 2 ) of opaque rubber having a thin top wall (32), and an insert (42) of light-transmitting rubber molded into the cavity formed within the shell. The thin top wall of the shell has an opening therein forming a character, so light passing up through the insert can pass through the character-forming opening. The keypad device is formed by first forming the shell between first and second molds (94,110, FIG. 4 ), and leaving the formed shell in the first mold. Then a third mold (140, FIG. 5 ) is clamped against the first mold which has the shell (30) therein, and the light-passing insert material (144) is injected into the space between the shell and third mold to form the insert.
