    Abstract: A method for braking a motor vehicle in critical driving situations in which the risk exists that the transverse forces acting on the vehicle will become so great in the continued progression of its movement that it rolls over laterally. In order to reduce the risk of a lateral rollover, the vehicle operation is monitored with regard to such critical driving situations and a parking brake is activated automatically if a critical driving situation is detected.
