  • Publication number: 20050119458
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel human proton-gated ion channel (hASIC1B) and polynucleotides which identify and encode hASIC1B. The invention also provides genetically engineered expression vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid sequences encoding hASIC1B and a method for producing hASIC1B. The invention also provides for use of hASIC1B, and agonists, antibodies or antagonists specifically binding hASIC1B, in the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with expression of hASIC1B. Additionally, the invention provides for the use of antisense molecules to polynucleotides encoding of hASIC1B for the treatment of diseases associated with the expression of hASIC1B. The invention also provides diagnostic assays, which utilize the polynucleotides, or fragments or the complements thereof, and antibodies specifically binding hASIC1B.
