  • Patent number: 7011647
Abstract: A variety of devices for use in accessing the subarachnoid space are described. In several embodiments an introducer sheath is disclosed having three main sections, a distal portion, an intermediate portion, and a proximal portion. The distal portion and intermediate portion form a first bend, and the intermediate portion and the proximal portion form a second bend, giving the overall device a general L-shape, S-shape, C-shape, or a three dimensional Z-shape. Apparatuses for attaching an introducer sheath to the skin of a patient are also discussed, as are methods for using, shaping and sizing an introducer sheath.

  • Publication number: 20050262515
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media to enhance browsing of messages in a message queue are disclosed. Embodiments include hardware and/or software for tracking records browsed by one or more agents. The agents are processes designed to collect, process, and/or reformat data for an upperware application, a data warehouse, and/or similar systems. When the agents sets up communications with a queue, the agents may include an attribute setting that instructs the middleware to track the last record browsed and/or the next record to browse. In response to setting the attribute, many embodiments record the current record number, row number, queue identifier, and/or the like in a database with an agent identification (ID). Then, whenever the agent re-establishes communication with the middleware queue using the same ID, the middleware can retrieve the current record number.

  • Publication number: 20050160010
Abstract: Modern enterprises, particularly technology companies, often provide benefits that are sold or given to their customers or partners. For example, an enterprise's customers, or selected subsets of customers, may be entitled to receive product upgrades, product updates or product support. The types and levels of service to which a particular customer is entitled may vary across services and customers. A mechanism is provided to determine, in response to a request for a service, often, but not necessarily, to be delivered electronically, if the requesting recipient is entitled to the service. In determining if the recipient is entitled to the service, an administrator-configurable set of profile attributes values associated with a package of services containing the requested service is compared with corresponding values for said recipient.

  • Publication number: 20050155041
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products for random access for processing messages in a message queue that include creating a map relating message identification and message position, including adding an entry in the map whenever a message enters the queue; instantiating a plurality of consumers for the messages; and consuming, with the consumers, the messages in dependence upon the map. In typical embodiments, the plurality of consumers includes a particular number of consumers and such embodiments typically include assigning an ordinal value to each consumer and consuming the messages further comprises identifying the messages to be processed by each consumer in dependence upon the ordinal values, the number of consumers, and the message positions.

  • Publication number: 20050102276
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing case insensitive searches of relational databases are provided. With the method and apparatus, an additional attribute value is provided for tables of a relational database that can be defined at table creation time and identifies portions of the tables of the relational database to be either case sensitive or case insensitive. Based on the setting of this attribute, the relational database engine is signaled to either perform case sensitive or case insensitive searches against the corresponding column of the table in the relational database. If the attribute is set, such that case insensitive searching of the column is signaled to the database engine, the database engine automatically generates either an uppercase or lowercase index corresponding to each value in the column. In response to a search request, the index is compared to a corresponding case version of the search term. If there is a match, the original entry in the column, i.e.

  • Publication number: 20050062198

  • Publication number: 20040267843
Abstract: A method, apparatus, processor, system, and signa-bearing medium that in an embodiment determine that blob (binary large object) data in a source field is associated with a source CCSID (Coded Character Set Identifier), determine a target CCSID for a target field, and replicate the blob data from the source field to the target field based on the source CCSID and the target CCSID. In this way, blob data can be converted between languages.

  • Publication number: 20030014073
Abstract: This is an implant for placement in the human body and an assembly for so placing that implant. Most desirably, it is an implant for use in the vasculature of the human body and is used to occlude some space in that vasculature as a portion of a treatment regimen. The implant itself is preferably a component of a deployment device using an electrolytically severable joint. The implant is electrically isolated from the electrolytically severable joint by a highly resistive or insulative layer. Such isolation and minimization of the conductive pathway from the placement apparatus to the body's fluids appears to enhance the susceptibility of the electrolytic joint to quick erosion and detachment of the implant from the deployment media. Although the implant itself is preferably a vaso-occlusive device, it may instead be a stent, a vena cava filter, or other implant which may be installed in this manner.
