Patent number: 10778097Abstract: A maximum power point tracking controller includes an input port for electrically coupling to an electric power source, an output port for electrically coupling to a load, a control switching device, and a control subsystem. The control switching device is adapted to repeatedly switch between its conductive and non-conductive states to transfer power from the input port to the output port. The control subsystem is adapted to control switching of the control switching device to regulate a voltage across the input port, based at least in part on a signal representing current flowing out of the output port, to maximize a signal representing power out of the output port.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2015Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: VOLTERRA SEMICONDUCTOR LLCInventors: Michael D. McJimsey, Anthony J. Stratakos, Ilija Jergovic, Xin Zhang, Kaiwei Yao, Vincent W. Ng, Phong T. Nguyen, Artin Der Minassians, Ryan James Ricchiuti

Patent number: 7142314Abstract: A method of calibrating a positioning stage includes placing a substrate on the positioning stage. The substrate has a contrast film above a portion of the substrate. At least one pattern is at a predetermined location above the substrate, corresponding to a predetermined location on the positioning stage if the positioning stage has zero offset from a registration position. A beam is applied to a position where the pattern on the substrate would be located if the positioning stage has zero offset. At least one of the group consisting of reflected, transmitted and scattered portions of the beam is measured. Whether the positioning stage has a non-zero offset is detected based on the measured portion of the beam.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2003Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Wafertech, LLCInventors: Phong T. Nguyen, Stephen L. Hill, Nadja Orlova

Patent number: 6459491Abstract: A method to monitor a dimension of a pellicle includes projecting a first light signal against a surface of the pellicle. A second light signal reflected from the surface of the pellicle is detected, with the second light signal being a representation of the first light signal. The method determines if the dimension of the pellicle is within an allowable value based on a characteristic of the detected second light signal. The characteristic of the detected second light signal can include time periods between pulses of the detected second light signal, an intensity of the detected second light signal, or a positional displacement of the detected second light signal.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2001Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: Wafer TechInventor: Phong T. Patent number: 4789038Abstract: An axle weight distribution controller for maintaining the weight borne by the steering axle of a load-carrying vehicle. A load transducer attached to the steering axle produces an electrical signal that is compared with signals representing desired minimum and maximum loads to be borne by the steering axle. If the load borne by the steering axle falls outside of the predetermined load interval, the pressure in an air spring supporting a third axle is adjusted so as to redistribute the weight borne by each of the other axles in the vehicle and to bring the load borne by the steering axle within desired limits.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1987Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: Structural Instrumentation, Inc.Inventors: Phong T. Nguyen, Charles L. Keith, Jerry L. McCauley
