  • Publication number: 20230255638
Abstract: A device for assisting in the placement of an umbilical catheter in premature and newborn infants comprises a first leg and a second leg. The legs each comprise a semi-cylindrical recess in the region of a first end and are connected to one another in the region of the second end via a spring element. The spring element holds the legs by a spring force in a first operating state in which the respective first ends of the legs are spaced apart from each other. The legs can be transferred against the spring force into a second operating state in which the respective first ends of the legs are arranged directly adjacent to each other. The semi-cylindrical recesses in the region of the respective first end of the legs together form a cylindrical receptacle for the umbilical cord of the infant in the second operating state.
