  • Patent number: 4237602
Abstract: A precision transducer for position measurements comprises a pair of supports, one of which is movable with respect to the other. Each support is provided with an electric winding constituted by equidistant serially connected printed circuit conductors extending transverse to the direction of movement. The winding of one of the supports comprises a plurality of groups of conductors connected in series and intercalated with the conductors of the other group(s). Each group of conductors is printed on one face of a substrate, the other face of which bears auxiliary conductors connecting the conductors of the groups in series, through metallized holes formed through the substrate. The substrate is bonded to the said one support after the printing of the auxiliary conductors on the said other face, the groups of conductors being printed on the said one face after the substrate has been bonded to the support.

  • Patent number: 4118771
Abstract: A numerical control system for machining centers, having a RAM and two groups of peripheral units, comprises two proessors interconnected by means of a common signal bus and adapted to operate simultaneously sharing access automatically to the RAM and to the peripheral units. One of the two processors is specialized for executing the computations relating to the interpolation of the path of the center of the tool with respect to the workpiece to be machined, while the second processor is specialized in control of the said peripherals. One group of peripherals comprises input and output means for data and programs and another group comprises a series of units for measuring and controlling the movement of the said tool and the said workpiece. The said processors are connected to the said memory and to the said input and output means by means of one signal bus, the measuring and control units are interconnected by means of a second signal bus connected to the first bus through a bidirectional interface.

  • Patent number: 3987350
Abstract: Numerical control apparatus for a lathe which reads from an input medium data specifying the transverse and axial position of the cutting edge of a lathe tool with respect to the axis of the workpiece being machined, the cutting rate for the tool, and the rate of advance of the tool. The apparatus includes processing means responsive to the data for generating a continuous transverse position datum for the tool and computing means controlled by the cutting rate datum and the continuous transverse position datum for controlling the rotational speed of the mandrel of the lathe.

  • Patent number: 3946189
Abstract: An electroerosion apparatus utilizing a wire electrode supported at opposite sides of a workpiece is adapted to cut a given profile in the workpiece with a rake by shifting the electrode supports and thereby inclining the electrode with respect to the cutting plane. The electrode supports are at the end of two arms which can move in coordinate axes in conjunction with the movement of the workpiece table to define the profile by means of orthogonal coordinate control.

  • Patent number: 3939390
Abstract: Numerical control means for controlling the position of a machine tool or the like by means of a servomotor are described. A position command signal is compared to the signal indicative of the servomotor position, and the resultant error signal is added to a speed command signal to control the speed of operation of the motor. A follow-up signal is generated whenever the amplitude of the error signal exceeds a predetermined level, and the latter is added to a digital position signal coupled to the system. A constant digital signal generated by said follow up signal is added to said error signal instead of said speed signal.
