  • Publication number: 20030121595
Abstract: Armouring tape (102) for wrapping around a hose (300) during its fabrication by a hose-wrapping machine (200; 400). The tape (102) is coiled into a roll (100) having a hollow core (109) from which the tape (102) is unwound to be wrapped onto the hose (300). The hose-wrapping machine (200; 400) rotatably mounts the roll (100) with the hose (300) passing through the roll core (109), the roll axis (108) being skewed to the hose axis (304) by the helix angle at which the tape (102is to be wrapped onto and along the hose (300). The hose (300) is moved longitudinally through the longitudinally static roll (100) and at the same tine, the roll (100) is rolated around the longitudinal axis (304) of the non-rotating hose (300). The armouring tape (102) unwinds from the inside (109) or the roll onto and along the hose (300) so as to wrap the hose (300) with a uniform helix of armouring tape (102).

  • Patent number: 6445801
Abstract: The disclosed method uses the Wiener frequency filtering to suppress noise in noisy sound signals (u(t)). This method includes a preliminary step in which the sound signals (u(t)) to be noise-suppressed are digitized by sampling and subdivided into frames. The method then includes a first series of steps including the creation of a noise model on N frames, the estimating of the spectral density of the noise and of the energy of the noise model and the computing of a coefficient that reflects the statistical dispersion of the noise. It also includes a second series of steps including the computation of the spectral density of the signals to be noise-suppressed fore each frame. The coefficients of the Wiener filter are modified for each successively processed frame, by the parameters determined at the end of the two series of steps, so as to introduce an energy compensation and an adaptive overestimation of the noise.

  • Patent number: 6178376
Abstract: A method of recording, into a data base of a navigation and positioning system, of geographic data of geographic places selected in a predetermined geographic zone, by selecting two points on a geographic map of said zone, defining these points by their geographic co-ordinates and by their position co-ordinates on the map, establishing the relationship between the geographic and position co-ordinates, defining the points to be recorded by their position co-ordinates, calculating for these position co-ordinates from the relationship, the geographic co-ordinates and entering the latter into the data base.

  • Patent number: 6059225
Abstract: A flight control device for an aircraft is provided with a control unit OP and a plurality of N instruction generating systems, each of which generates a first command instruction for the control unit OP and a least one of which performs autosurveillance and generates a corresponding surveillance signal. The flight control device is also provided with a plurality of P servocontrol systems, each of which is coupled to each of the instruction generating systems so that each of the servocontrol systems receives one of the first command instructions from each of the N instruction generating systems. Each of the servocontrol systems receives information identifying a particular position of a flight control unit, and each of the servocontrol systems communicates a second command instruction to the control unit OP based on the information.

  • Patent number: 5710934
Abstract: Methods and test platforms for developing an application-specific integrated circuit incorporating, on the same chip, a signal processor core, RAM memory and ROM memory intended to receive a management program and processing program, and input-output management peripherals specific to the application. The signal processor, RAM memory and ROM memory correspond respectively to existing separate IC components. The processing program is developed and tested on a test platform including at least these separate IC components together with a core-emulation integrated circuit, which includes the signal processor core in a minimal configuration. An interface program and diagnostic interface logic allows the platform to be controlled from a microcomputer, which can thereby implement automatic chaining of tests.

  • Patent number: 4113596
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the measurement of the movement of colloidal particles in suspensions or solutions. The apparatus used in this method comprises an electrophoresis tank equipped with two electrodes between which an electrical field can be applied.A beam of radiation produced at the outside of the tank having a thickness of not more than 1000.mu. as viewed in the direction of the lines of force of the electrical field set up between the electrodes is directed so as to skim the electrode away from which the particles move under the effect of the electrical field. In order to determine the mobility of the particles the optical density of the liquid is measured a first time without applying the electrical field, and a second time after having applied the field during not more than 10 seconds.

  • Patent number: 4070263
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved method and apparatus for the measurement of the movement of colloidal particles in suspensions or solutions, wherein an electrophoresis tank is equipped with two electrodes and a filtering membrane positioned substantially parallel and equidistant to the electrodes.A flat beam of radiation produced at the outside of the tank having a thickness of not more than 1000 .mu. as viewed in the direction of the lines of force of the electrical field set up between the electrodes is directed so as to skim the side of the membrane from which the particles move under the effect of the electric field. With this improved arrangement the influence of secondary interfering phenomena appearing essentially when measuring the movement of colloidal particles in highly mineralized waste waters, can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4027213
Abstract: An electronic commutation circuit for feeding from a direct-current source an electric motor consisting of a stator with a polyphase winding and a magnetized rotor coupled mechanically with a position and angular speed sensor, comprises for each phase of the stator winding a transistor switching circuit, the operation of the switching circuits being sequentially controlled from signals received from the sensor in such a way that the various phases of the stator winding are fed by a system of polyphase bidirectional currents of substantially sinusoidal form rising and falling in steps, the frequency and phase angle of these currents being determined by the speed of the rotor and by its position relative to the stator. Each of the switching circuits is preceded by an electronic trigger with three stable positions and which delivers a positive, zero or negative voltage to provide control of the binary state of the associated commutation circuit.

  • Patent number: 3999369
Abstract: A low-cost electromechanical watch movement comprises a step-by-step motor including a multipolar rotor mounted for rotation within an encased stator and carrying driving pallets operatively engaging with a time-display gear train. The stator and rotor each have a like number of alternate pole pieces disposed on arcuate surfaces concentric to the axis of the rotor and separated radially by arcuate air-gaps of constant section. Small circumferential air-gaps separate the pole-pieces of the stator and, possibly, the rotor. The pole pieces of the rotor are permanently magnetized and those of the stator electromagnetically energizable by a winding supplied with periodic electric pulses from a pulse generator to drive the rotor through an angle less than 15.degree. in response to a pulse. A spring lightly biases the rotor to its initial position.
