  • Patent number: 11299758
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for treating lignocellulosic biomass by means of an acidic liquor in order to produce “second-generation” (2G) sugary liquors. These sugary liquors may be used to produce other products via a biochemical pathway (e.g. alcohols such as ethanol, butanol or other molecules, for example solvents such as acetone, etc.). This process comprises analysis of the liquid streams withdrawn during the process and adjustment of the composition of the impregnation liquor so as to keep the acidic power of said streams constant.

  • Publication number: 20200339761
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for treating a lignocellulosic biomass comprising a solids content of not more than 80% by weight, said process comprising the use of at least one reactor (9,14) for treating said biomass, in which the or at least one of said reactors is fed with biomass via a feed means (6,11) creating a pressure increase between the biomass inlet and the biomass outlet of said feed means, in which said feed means is washed by circulation of a washing fluid between a washing inlet (7,12) and a washing outlet (8,13). • Patent number: 9605282
Abstract: The process for the production of alcohol and/or solvent from a biomass feedstock comprises the stages for pretreatment (P) of the biomass feedstock, for enzymatic hydrolysis (H1 and HF), and for fermenting the hydrolyzate (HF). To prevent solids from being sent and to facilitate operating the section for purifying the fermentation products, at least a portion of the solid material in the fermentation wine is extracted (Ex1) to obtain a stream of solid residue (11) comprising lignin and a fermentation wine (12) that is low in solid material. Then, the stream of solid residue is washed (L) with a liquid stream to recover a liquid stream that is enriched with fermentation products (16). The liquid stream that is enriched with fermentation products (16) is recycled in the enzymatic hydrolysis stage (H1) to recover any fermentation product and to increase the overall yield of the process.

  • Patent number: 9187770
Abstract: The process for the production of alcohol and/or solvent from a biomass feedstock comprises the stages for pretreatment (P) of the biomass feedstock, for enzymatic hydrolysis (H) of the pretreated substrate, and for fermenting the hydrolyzate (F). To reduce the size of the fermenters, at least a portion of the solid residue contained in the hydrolyzate is extracted (Ex1) in such a way as to obtain a stream of solid residue (9) comprising lignin and a hydrolyzate (8) that is low in solid residue. Then, the stream of solid residue is washed (L) with a liquid stream in such a way as to recover a sugar-enriched liquid stream (15). The sugar-enriched liquid stream (15) is recycled in the enzymatic hydrolysis stage (H) to be able to upgrade the sugars without providing dilution of the streams in the process.

  • Patent number: 8500865
Abstract: The gaseous effluent to be treated is contacted in C1 with an absorbent solution selected for its property of forming two separable phases when it has absorbed an amount of acid compounds and when it is heated. According to the invention, the absorbent solution is regenerated in at least two stages in regeneration zones Z1 and Z2. At the end of the first regeneration stage in Z1, at least part of the partly regenerated absorbent solution is separated into two fractions in B1: a fraction rich in acid compounds and a fraction depleted in acid compounds. Fraction 10 rich in acid compounds is sent to the second regeneration stage in Z2. The fraction depleted in acid compounds and regenerated absorbent solution 6 from the second regeneration stage are recycled to absorption column C1. The method can be applied to combustion fumes decarbonation and to natural gas or synthesis gas deacidizing.

  • Patent number: 8361424
Abstract: The gaseous effluent to be treated is contacted in C1 with an absorbent solution selected for its property of forming two separable phases when it has absorbed an amount of acid compounds and when it is heated. The absorbent solution laden with acid compounds is then heated in E1 and E3 so as to separate two fractions in BS1: a first absorbent solution fraction depleted in acid compounds and a second absorbent solution fraction enriched in acid compounds. The second fraction is regenerated in C2 so as to release part of the acid compounds, and the first absorbent solution fraction and the regenerated absorbent solution are recycled as absorbent solution. According to the invention, an absorbent solution portion circulating in C1 is cooled in E2 in order to prevent demixing of the solution in column C1.

  • Patent number: 8357344
Abstract: The gaseous effluent to be treated is contacted in column C1 with an absorbent solution selected for its property of forming two separable phases when it is heated. The regenerated absorbent solution is separated into two phases in drum B1; a fraction rich in water and a fraction rich in reactive compounds. Separation allows to optimize the operations performed on the regenerated absorbent solution. On the one hand, separation allows to carry out vaporization, through reboiler R1, of a fraction of the absorbent solution, preferably containing a limited reactive compound concentration in relation to the absorbent solution, thus limiting their degradation. On the other hand, separation of the phases allows to reduce the amount of solution to be treated in order to remove the non-regeneratable salts and thus to reduce the costs linked with their elimination. Finally, separation allows to eliminate the degradation products by carrying out a specific and suitable purification for each phase.

  • Publication number: 20130015406
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for deacidizing a gas feed comprising acid compounds. The gas feed is contacted in C1 with an absorbent solution so as to obtain a gaseous effluent depleted in acid compounds and an absorbent solution laden with acid compounds, the absorbent solution being selected for its property of forming two liquid phases when heated. A gaseous effluent is then released from the absorbent solution laden with acid compounds. At least part of the absorbent solution laden with acid compounds is thermally regenerated and at least a fraction of the regenerated absorbent solution is separated into a water-enriched liquid phase and a liquid phase enriched in reactive compounds. The water-enriched liquid phase is used to wash the gaseous effluent released from the absorbent solution enriched in acid compounds in order to obtain a gaseous effluent depleted in reactive compounds.

  • Patent number: 7964168
Abstract: The CO2 contained in combustion fumes is captured by carrying out at least the following steps in combination: a) a fuel is burned, producing combustion fumes; b) the fumes are placed in contact with an absorbent solution in order to produce CO2-poor fumes and a CO2-laden solution; c) the CO2-laden solution is regenerated in a thermal regeneration column (RE) in order to produce a regenerated absorbent solution and a CO2-rich gaseous effluent (5); and d) the CO2-rich gaseous effluent is cooled in order to obtain a CO2-enriched gaseous fraction which is evacuated, and a liquid fraction, which is heated by heat exchanged with the combustion fumes and then introduced at the head of regeneration column (RE) as reflux (7).
