  • Patent number: 5042416
Abstract: The watercraft is designed to be used by poor swimmers and to be propelled by a double paddle in a leisurely way. The hull forms lateral stabilizing floatation bulges and a central fully-open cockpit providing a high back-rest and a seat followed by an inverted V-shape portion for supporting the boater's lower limbs in a semi-flexed condition. The forward part of the V-shape portion is provided with a central upwardly-extending rib, also protruding from the forward wall of the cockpit to provide a separation extending between the legs and feet, the feet being laterally confined at the foot-rest by the rib and the side walls of the cockpit. There is further provided a triangular flap member pivoted to the top of the cockpit at its back to form a steeper back-rest when pivoted within the cockpit and a more-inclined back-rest extension when pivoted over the deck.

  • Patent number: 4239137
Abstract: A carrier and stand device for a boat, such as a canoe, and, in particular, a kayak and characterized by its structural advantages as well as for its versatility for use during any phase of the boat life from production to the user, including transportation, storage and display. This device includes a pair of transverse U-shape frames and connector rods allowing to disconnect the pair of frames and compactly store away the components during non-use. The frames are provided with sets of sockets and projections allowing positive stacking of a plurality of such devices in a number of different ways for convenience in storage and display.

  • Patent number: 4229850
Abstract: A kayak characterized by a kayak hull molded of semi-rigid material stiffened by an internal frame structure which includes a bow and a stern beam units and a seat each of hollow and watertight construction to provide buoyancy and each of limited dimensions to be inserted through the opening in the top of the kayak. The beam units are engaged between the top and bottom walls of the hull, extend longitudinally and centrally of the latter forwardly and rearwardly of the passenger opening and have beam extensions projecting towards each other along the portion of the hull bottom wall opposite the passenger opening. The seat rests on both extensions, is preferably adjustable fore and aft along the latter and also engages the top of the kayak on both sides of the passenger opening to coact with the bow and stern parts in stiffening the semi-rigid hull.

  • Patent number: 4167050
Abstract: A vertical stabilizer adapted to fit the rear pointed end of a kayak. The stabilizer includes a hollow body which is flared to engage over the rear pointed end of a kayak and a vertical stabilizer plane integrally formed, and depending from, the body. An elastic band is connected to the body and to the kayak and biases the stabilizer into either a raised inoperative position and a lowered operative position.
