  • Patent number: 11879867
Abstract: There are described a system and method for performing ultrasound testing of a component comprising a first material layer and a second material layer bonded by an adhesive layer. The method comprises applying input ultrasound to the component to cause longitudinal propagation of ultrasonic guided waves through the first material layer and the adhesive layer; acquiring acoustic waves from the component, wherein the acoustic waves produced by the longitudinal propagation of the ultrasonic guided waves; generating a signal representation of the acoustic waves; comparing the signal representation of the acoustic waves to a plurality of reference signals to identify a characteristic of the adhesive layer; and outputting an output signal indicative of the characteristic of the adhesive layer.

  • Publication number: 20240013767
Abstract: There is provided an electromagnetic acoustic transducer comprising a waveguide having a surface, and a plurality of spaced elements arranged in an array on the surface of the waveguide. Each element of the plurality of elements comprises a magnet and a coil wound around the magnet. A direction of magnetization of the plurality of elements alternating from one of the plurality of elements to a next one of the plurality of elements.

  • Publication number: 20230288374
Abstract: A method and a system for nondestructive testing of a structure are provided. At least one ultrasonic probe is driven to cause at least one shear horizontal (SH) guided wave to propagate in the structure. At least one reflected guided wave signal is received from the structure to the at least one ultrasonic probe being driven. A comparison between an amplitude of the at least one reflected guided wave signal and an amplitude threshold is performed. A thickness of the structure is determined based on the comparison and a presence or an absence of at least one defect in the structure is detected based on the thickness as determined.

  • Publication number: 20230031270
Abstract: There is described a probe for non-destructive testing of a curved object, the probe comprising an arrangement of magnets and coils configured for generating shear horizontal guided waves for propagating longitudinally in the object, the probe having a top surface, a bottom surface, and two opposed ends extending between the top surface and the bottom surface, the bottom surface having a non-zero curvature between the two opposed ends and matable with an outer surface of the curved object.

  • Publication number: 20220276207
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for performing ultrasonic testing. Reflected acoustic waves are obtained at a detector, the reflected acoustic waves produced by at least one insonification of a component to be tested. The reflected acoustic waves are processed to produce a representation of the component. A location of the component to be tested within the representation of the component is determined. A portion of the representation associated with the component is analyzed to detect a presence of a defect in the component to be tested. An alert indicative of the defect in the component is issued responsive to detecting the presence of the defect.

  • Patent number: 8220209
Abstract: A ground anchor for anchoring a structure positioned on the ground. The ground anchor comprises a base member, a movable anchoring member and a holding member. The base member is fitted in a hole within the ground and fixedly secured to the ground against removal thereof. The movable anchoring member is mounted to the base member and is movable between a non-anchoring position and an anchoring position. The holding member is mountable to the movable anchoring member when in the anchoring position and to the structure positioned on the ground. When the base member is fixedly secured to the ground, and the movable anchoring member is in the anchoring position with the holding member mounted thereto and to the structure, the ground anchor anchors the structure to the ground. A kit comprising a plurality of such ground anchors is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090193725
Abstract: A prefabricated building structure having a collapsible roof and adapted to be transported by a road carrier vehicle is described. The prefabricated building structure is provided with at least opposed parallel load bearing side walls. A roof section having a plurality of spaced roof rafters is pivotally connected by one or more pivot connections to a respective one of a top plate of each of the load bearing side walls. The roof sections are interconnectable to one another when the roof sections are disposed angularly upwards to form a raised pitch roof structure. A leverage beam is connectable to one of the rafters of each roof section and is securable to a cable which is secured to a pulley whereby to permit the roof sections to be raised or lowered.
