  • Patent number: 8978986
Abstract: A multilayer contactless smartcard 10 including an electronic chip embedded in the card, the chip being connected to an antenna 22 printed on a carrier layer 20, and two card bodies, one on each side of the carrier, each including at least one plastic layer 40 and 60. The antenna carrier is opaque and includes a first cut-out forming a void 23 filled with a transparent plastic; and the plastic layers of the two card bodies each include a second cut-out forming two identical voids 43 and 63 the outlines of which superimpose, in order to make a transparent zone appear in the thickness of the card, forming a transparent logo in the shape of the cut-out. A process for manufacturing such a card is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130026238
Abstract: A hybrid contact-contactless smart card (1) including a card body made up of a plurality of layers. Supporting layer (40) supports printed antenna (41) made up of at least one turn and integrated circuit module (10) connected to the antenna by two internal and external contacts (43, 44) located in the continuation of the internal and external ends (45, 46), respectively, of the antenna turns, the module being located on the card in a portion defined by first side (6), second side (8) perpendicular to the first side, first line (3) parallel to the first side (6) and second line (4) parallel to the second side. Internal end (45) of the antenna turns is located entirely in the portion such that when the card is subjected to bending and/or twisting stresses, the connection between the module and the antenna is not cut.

  • Publication number: 20110024036
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for manufacturing a radio frequency identification device (RFID) support (52) featuring an antenna (42) and a double-sided integrated circuit module (10) featuring internal contacts (13, 14) and external contacts (12) connected to a chip (15) encased in a module, the method including the following steps: printing the antenna (42) having contacts (43 and 44) on a support (40), creating a recess (41) between the contacts (43 and 44) of the antenna, pasting a film of glue (110) on the internal face of the module except on the internal contacts (13, 14), positioning the module on the support (40) on the antenna side and so that the internal contacts of the module are against the antenna contacts and the encapsulation (18) of the chip is in the recess, laminating together the support layer (40) and the module so as to connect the module to the antenna and to glue the module.

  • Patent number: 7597266
Abstract: A method for making a hybrid contact/non-contact or non-contact smart card which includes a support (10,11) on which is produced an antenna, two card bodies (32, 42, 34, 44) on either side of the support, each of the card bodies including at least one thermoplastic layer, and one chip (30) or module connected to the antenna. The method includes the following steps: depositing a layer of a material having a major amount of resin on a predetermined zone (12,13) of the antenna support; making the antenna which includes screen-printing turns (14.15) and two connection pads (16,18,17,19) of conductive polymer ink on the zone previously produced on the support, and subjecting the support to a heat treatment to cure the ink.

  • Publication number: 20070001859
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a contactless chip card including an antenna support (40) on which the antenna is screenprinted and an electronic module or a chip (50) connected to the two antenna terminals and at least two card bodies on either side of antenna support, the antenna bodies being thermoplastic sheets (62, 64, 66, and 68) applied by hot pressure lamination, the sheet of thermoplastic (62) which is applied onto the face of the antenna support (40) receiving electronic module or chip (50) is perforated with a through-cavity (56) and its thickness is greater than the thickness of electronic module or chip (50), said cavity (56) being situated such that said electronic module or chip (50) is inside the cavity when said sheet (62) is placed on said support (40) before lamination step and such that electronic module or chip (50) is not subjected to any pressure during the lamination step.

  • Patent number: 7116231
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a chip card having an antenna support, two card bodies and an electronic module or a chip linked to the antenna. This method has a first lamination step which includes fusing two thermoplastic sheets (32, 34 or 62, 64) on each side of antenna support (10 or 40) at a temperature sufficient for the thermoplastic sheet material to soften and to flow wholly so as to eliminate any differences in thickness from the support, and a second lamination step carried out after a period of time necessary for the thermoplastic sheets (32, 34 or 62, 64) to be solidified, the second step including fusing by hot pressing two plastic layers (36, 38 or 66, 68) making up the card bodies onto the plasticised and even faces of uniformly thick antenna support (30 or 60) plasticised by the thermoplastic sheets.

  • Publication number: 20060139901
Abstract: The invention concerns a double-sided electronic module of a hybrid contact-contactless smart card designed to be lodged in a cavity of the card and to be connected to the bonding pads of the antenna which is embedded in the card, the module including a group of contacts (52) on a first side of the support, some of the contacts each covering a through hole in the support. According to a main characteristic of the invention, on the second side of the module are screen printed first routing traces connected by their first end (55) to the through holes and by the other end to the chip's bonding pads, and second routing traces each connected respectively to a screen printed bonding pad (57 and 59) on one side and to two of the chip's bonding pads on the other side, the bonding pads being positioned so that, when inserting the module in the cavity, they are opposite the antenna's bonding pads and allow the module to be bonded along its whole periphery.
