  • Patent number: 4925566
Abstract: An ultrafiltration, hyperfiltration or demineralization element comprises a porous inorganic material support and an asymmetrical, cellular, microporous organic polymer membrane, produced on one of the faces of the porous support and fitted into the pores of the porous support flush with said surface and without projecting beyond the same. The element is prepared by coating the inner surface of a tubular porous support with a coating solution of the organic polymer and then subjecting the coated support to a polymer insolubilization stage, which can be carried out by partial evaporation, followed by the immersion of the coated support in a coagulating bath.

  • Patent number: 4816140
Abstract: For deasphalting an asphaltene-containing hydrocarbon oil, employed is a hydrocarbon solvent of 3-8 carbon atoms, resulting in an asphaltic phase and a solution of deasphalted oil in the solvent. The solvent is then separated from the deasphalted oil, by passing the solution tangentially across an inorganic membrane of pore radii from 2 to 15 nonometers: the obtained filtrate has an increased solvent content and may be recycled. The deasphalted oil is selectively retained on the upstream side of the membrane.

  • Patent number: 4756821
Abstract: A hydrotreatment method, for example, hydroviscoreduction or hydrodesulfurization in which the charge of hydrocarbons is reacted with hydrogen in contact with a catalyst finely dispersed in the liquid phase. To separate the product from the catalyst, the effluent freed from its accompanying free gas is passed along, and in contact with the upstream wall of a porous inorganic membrane. The oil that has not been filtered contains a concentrate of catalyst and is recycled to the hydrotreatment reactor. The filtered oil constitutes the product of the method.

  • Patent number: 4623263
Abstract: An apparatus for the thermal measurement of the texture of a porous body, including a measuring head, a measuring assembly and a processing and control circuit. The measuring head is provided with two identical cylindrical cells, a measuring cell and a reference cell, arranged in a furnace. The measuring assembly measures the mean temperature of the measuring cell, and measures a calorific effect in the measuring cell, and includes a calorific effect detector, a calibration circuit, a temperature regulator including a furnace heater. The measuring circuit supplies a temperature signal and a calorific effect signal to the processing and control circuit, which in turn controls the heater.

  • Patent number: 4411790
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the treatment of a hydrocarbon charge by high temperature ultrafiltration, said process comprising the steps of circulating said charge in a module comprising at least one mineral ultrafiltration barrier coated with a sensitive mineral layer of at least one metal oxide and of operating at a temperature higher than 100.degree. C. The barrier, which preferably has a ceramic or metallic support, is coated with a sensitive layer selected from the group comprising titanium dioxide, magnesium oxide, aluminium oxide, spinel MgAl.sub.2 O.sub.4, silica. The invention is applicable to the regeneration of a waste oil and to the reduction of the rate of asphaltenes in a hydrocarbon charge.

  • Patent number: 4053662
Abstract: A method of processing porous metal filters used for separating isotopes of uranium hexafluoride, so as to improve the mechanical strength and resistance to corrosion of the fiters. The filters are placed in the presence of an aluminum-based cement in a closed heat-resistant and oxidation-resistant vessel, the interior of the vessel is disposed in a inert gas atmosphere and the vessel is heated to between 800.degree. and 1,000.degree. C in a furnace for about 1 hour. The filters are used for separating uranium isotopes.
