  • Patent number: 5050143
Abstract: An optical reading and magnetic writing device for data on a magnetooptic recording carrier including a writing transducer (TRI) of data on the carrier disposed on a flying head (PATI), a light source (SLI) emitting a beam of polarized incident light (F.sub.i) onto the surface of the carrier, a holographic lens (LHI) for focusing the incident beam (F.sub.i) onto the surface of the carrier, affixed to the head, a separator element (ESI) separating the incident beam from the reflected beam, and a detector (MDKI) for detecting the angle of rotation of the plane of polarization of the light. According to the invention, the optical reading and magnetic writing device is characterized in that the light source (FLI) is disposed and fixed on the head (PATI). The invention is applicable to magnetooptic disk memories.

  • Patent number: 5030480
Abstract: A process for depositing a lubricating coating on the silicon oxide protective layer of a magnetic disk, wherein after having cleaned the disk, the sequence for coating the surface of the disk includes the steps of: setting the magnetic disk into rotation; spraying onto the protective layer of the disk, in the direction of rotation, a lubricant containing carrier gases, solvents, and active oxyhydrocarbon monomeric elements that are polymerized and then adsorbed to the protective layer; spraying a solvent on the disk in the direction of rotation; and wiping the disk. The invention is applicable to a variety of disk structures, including magnetooptical disks.

  • Patent number: 4868010
Abstract: A method for overcoming aging of a magnetooptical recording medium (MEMOI) including at least one magnetic layer (CMI) covered by a layer of alumina (DIELI.sub.2) that is transparent to light. In order to improve the resistance to magnetic aging of the magnetooptical recording medium (MEMOI), this medium is subjected to annealing at a temperature in the vicinity of 200.degree. C., immediately after the medium is being deposited in a vacuum at ambient temperature. The invention is applicable to magnetooptical disk memories.

  • Patent number: 4763215
Abstract: A device and method for writing data on a magnetic medium (SMI) are disclosed for use in connection with a recording layer (CMI1) made from an anisotropic material having the axis of easy magnetization perpendicular to its surface and which moves past at least one magnetic writing transducer (TMI). According to the invention, this device is characterized by the fact that the transducer comprises two adjoining writing poles (PEI1, PEI2) having opposite polarities and supplying simultaneously, in a direction (Oz) parallel to the surface of the layer and perpendicular to the base material's direction of motion, magnetic writing fields (Hy) which are normal to the surface of the layer with opposite polarity. The device is particularly applicable for writing data on a magnetic disc adapted for opto-electronic readout.
